FAYETTE, Mo. - The Lincoln men's track & field team opened the 2021 outdoor season with four victories at the CMU Open, hosted by Central Methodist University on Saturday (March 20).
Two of those victories were by
Rashane Bartlett, who won the 110m hurdles in 15.79 and the 400m hurdles in 55.04. In the latter event, Kewani Campbell claimed third (55.57), Shanthamoi Brown took fifth (56.66) and Jahnaza Francis finished in sixth (58.47).
Campbell and Francis joined with Reuben Nichols and
Yardley Pierre-Louis to win the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:18.30, while the foursome of Bartlett,
Stavin Brown, Shanthamoi Brown and DauJaughn Murray took second in 3:24.07. Nichols had LU's other victory, as he was the champion of the 400m with a time of 49.02. LU swept the top-four of that event, with Francis (50.01), Murray (50.66) and Pierre-Louis (51.05) respectively finishing second through third.
Shemar Fletcher was the runner-up in both the 100m (11.10) and 200m (22.43), with Leonardo Stewart taking third (11.25) and
Imar Tomlinson (11.47) placing 10th in the former event. In the 200m, Stewart (23.27), Tomlinson (23.31) and Murray (23.36) respectively placed eighth through 10th.
Stavin Brown placed third in the 800m after clocking in at 1:58.89, and the foursome of Tomlinson, Fletcher, Stewart and
Javden Douglas claimed third in the 4x100m relay with a time of 43.11.
Lincoln finished second overall at the CMU Open with 109 points.
The Blue Tigers will be in Emporia, Kan. next weekend for the ESU Relays, hosted by Emporia State University on Friday and Saturday (March 26-27).
