JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - After a phenomenal performance at Indiana Tech's Strive for Greatness Meet, Lincoln sophomore
Rashane Bartlett was selected as the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's NCAA Division II Indoor Track Athlete of the Week. Bartlett becomes just the second member of the Lincoln men's track & field team in program history to claim one of the USTFCCCA's indoor national weekly awards, joining Ryan Brown in 2019-20.
Bartlett competed in the 60m hurdles three times on Friday (Dec. 10), setting a new personal record in each round. Bartlett won the preliminaries in 8.14 before winning the semifinals in 8.11.
He saved his best performance for last, however, as Bartlett clocked in at 7.94, edging the runner-up time of 7.95, to emerge as the champion in the finals of the 60m hurdles. Bartlett's winning time is currently the fastest in NCAA Division II, and is also a provisional qualifying time for the national championships.
The Lincoln men's indoor track & field team is next scheduled to compete on Saturday, Jan. 22 in Pittsburg, Kan. at the Crimson & Gold Invitational, hosted by Pittsburg State University.
