101 Student-Athletes Post a 3.0 GPA or Better in Spring 2020


JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Lincoln student-athletes again impressed in the classroom during the Spring 2020 semester, as 101 Blue Tigers posted grade points averages of 3.0 or higher. In addition, 32 student-athletes had a perfect 4.0 GPA, while the average grade point average of a Lincoln student-athlete in the spring was 3.14.
 
Grades by LU student-athletes were higher across the board compared to the Fall 2019 semester, when the average GPA was 3.05. Ten more Blue Tigers posted a perfect 4.0 (22 in the Fall), and seven more student-athletes posted at least a 3.0 (94 in the Fall).

"This past semester was an unconventional one, with classes transitioning from meeting in person to meeting exclusively online, but our student-athletes more than rose to the challenge," said John Moseley, Lincoln University Director of Athletics. "Lincoln student-athletes took the resilience we instill in them as coaches and applied it to their studies, and we are tremendously proud of their successes. I applaud our student-athletes for their accomplishments this past Spring, and I applaud our coaches as well for their leadership during this unusual time."

Twenty-two members of the women's track & field and cross country programs earned grade point averages of 3.0 or higher this spring. The program also had eight athletes who posted perfect 4.0 averages, resulting in a 3.57 team grade point average.

The Lincoln softball team had 14 athletes with a 3.0 or higher GPA, including seven with a 4.0, as the players combined for an impressive 3.723 team grade point average. Twenty-five members of the football team had a 3.0 or better for the semester, with four players posting a 4.0.

The men's basketball team had nine athletes with GPAs of 3.0 or higher this spring, with four players posting a 4.0, while the women's basketball team had nine with a 3.0 and three with a 4.0. The men's track & field team, meanwhile, had 11 student-athletes post a 3.0 or higher grade point average, including one with a 4.0.
 
Seven members of the Lincoln men's golf team posted a grade point average of at least 3.0, with two athletes achieving a 4.0. The women's golf and bowling teams each had two athletes apiece with at least a 3.0 GPA, while one member from each program posted a 4.0.

Seven of Lincoln's 12 athletic programs posted team grade point averages of 3.0 or higher: softball, men's golf, men's basketball, women's basketball, cross country and women's indoor and outdoor track & field.
