Lincoln Men No. 1 in the Nation, LU Women No. 2


JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln men's indoor track & field team is now the No. 1 team in the land while the LU women's track & field team is No. 2 nationally in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II rankings, released on Tuesday (Feb. 4).

The Blue Tiger men moved up to No. 1 in NCAA Division II for the first time since 2012 after earning 149.35 points in this week's ratings. Tiffin (137.04 points), Colorado-Mines (136.90) and Ashland (133.97) are all jockeying for the No. 2 position, while American International rounds out the top-five with 95.42 points. Missouri Southern (93.94) and Northwest Missouri (90.63) are respectively ranked No. 6 and No. 7, and three other MIAA programs - No. 12 Central Missouri (69.13), No. 21 Pittsburg State (40.02) and No. 24 Emporia State (36.87) - appear in the national top-25.

The Lincoln women remained No. 2 in the country after garnering 149.36 points this week, placing the Blue Tigers behind only Grand Valley State, which received 203.93 points. Northwest Missouri (115.11) is No. 3 and Minnesota State-Mankato (101.33) is No. 4 while Missouri Southern (91.27) gives the MIAA three programs in the national top-five. Other ranked programs from the MIAA include No. 15 Pittsburg State (56.20) and No. 22 Central Missouri (33.04).

Both Lincoln programs will travel to Maryville, Mo. this weekend (Feb. 7-8) for the Bearcat Open, hosted by Northwest Missouri State University.
