PITTSBURG, Kan. -
Kizan David swept the long jump and the triple jump as the Lincoln men's indoor track & field team scored 100 points to take third at the Rumble in the Jungle on Friday night (Jan. 18).
David had a leap of 7.38m in the long jump and a mark of 15.01m in the triple jump at the meet, hosted by Pittsburg State University, while
Souleyman Seck finished second in the triple jump with a distance of 13.77m. Terry Hunter rounded out LU's performance in the field events, taking eighth in the shot put at 9.39m.
Javan Gray won both the 60m (6.84) and the 200m (21.61), while
Roberto Smith (6.88),
Raymone Campbell (6.95) and
Stephen Rose (7.05) respectively placed second, fourth and seventh in the former event. In the 200m, Campbell tied Gray with a time of 21.61, and Smith (22.54) took seventh while
Damaine Dixon (22.68) came in eighth and
Tyrese Halls (22.71) finished in 10th.
Ouekie Wright placed third in the 400m at 49.29, and Halls (50.19) took sixth while Dixon (51.21) checked in at ninth. Halls later teamed with
Coy Spence, Wright and Campbell to finish third in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:20.34.
Spence also had a third-place finish, as he clocked in at 8.35 in the 60m hurdles. Abubakar Mohammed timed in at 8.44 to finish fifth in that event while Seck came in a ninth at 8.73.
Up next for Lincoln is the Jayhawk Classic, hosted by the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kan. on Friday and Saturday (Jan. 25-26).
