Complete Results: Miner Invitational | Jayhawk Spring Fling
ROLLA, Mo. & LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Lincoln men's outdoor track & field team opened its season this weekend by competing in a pair of meets: the Miner Invitational, hosted by Missouri S&T on Friday and Saturday (March 20-21); and the Jayhawk Spring Fling, hosted by the University of Kansas on Saturday (March 21).
Four Blue Tigers competed at the Miner Invitational, including
Tajai Duffus, who won the 100m dash in 10.46 and was the runner-up in the 200m at 21.58. In the 100m,
Dimitri Beckford (10.65) came in third,
Dervin Walker (10.75) claimed fifth and
Rosean Smith (10.76) finished in sixth. In the 200m, Beckford (21.71) placed fourth, Walker (21.79) checked in at sixth and Smith (22.15) rounded out the top-seven.
The rest of the squad competed at the Jayhawk Spring Fling, with
Malik Drummond (14.34m) and
Dejone Raymond (14.21m) placing first and second, respectively, in the triple jump.
Melon Lowenfield, meanwhile, had a distance of 12.85m to take sixth in that event. In the long jump, Dimetri Browne (7.08m) finished as the runner-up and
Janoe Richards (6.91m) came in fourth while Lowenfield (6.86m) took fifth and
Derick Robinson (6.82m) finished in seventh.
LU's 4x400m relay team timed in at 3:23.66 to take fourth and
Donovan Bruce clocked in at 2:04.15 to place fourth in the 800m. Namarius Warren closed out the top-10 in the 400m after timing in at 50.71. Warren (22.31), Richards (22.59), Robinson (22.84) and
Carlos Samuels, Jr. (23.60) respectively finished sixth through ninth in the 200m.
Brandon Harris won the 110m hurdles with his time of 13.80 and
Joshua Dottin (14.37) finished in third while
Rondino Dean, Jr. (15.55) checked in at fourth. In the 400m hurdles, Harris clocked in at 51.80 to finish as the runner-up. Dottin (54.31) came in third in the 400m hurdles while
Ryan Jackson (1:00.18) took seventh.
Lincoln will next compete in the Bearcat Invitational, hosted by Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Mo. from Thursday through Saturday (March 26-28).
