PITTSBURG, Kan. - Lincoln's women's and men's indoor track & field teams combined to record eight top-five finishes at the 11th Annual Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic, hosted by Pittsburg State University on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 13-14).
Aaliyannah Anderson highlighted the LU women's team's performance by winning the 60m dash in 7.58. She also tied with
Quana Walker for fifth in the 200m, as both athletes timed in at 24.58. Meanwhile, in the high jump,
Calah McDonald and
Kimeisha Francis tied for second with identical heights of 1.61m.
The foursome of
Odeshia Nanton,
Ezthia Maycock,
Maria Diamond and Dayjonique Cato clocked in at 3:46.87 to finish in seventh place in the 4x400m relay. Nanton placed fifth in the 400m Open, timing in at 56.26, and Cato came in ninth in the 400m Invitational with a time of 57.88.
On the men's side,
Malik Drummond was the runner-up of the triple jump with a distance of 15.39m, and
Dejone Raymond took seventh in that event with a mark of 14.28m. Raymond also checked in at 10th in the high jump with a height of 1.94m.Â
In the long jump, Dimetri Browne claimed third place with his distance of 7.16m and
Melon Lowenfield (6.92m) took eighth place.
Rondino Dean, Jr. timed in at 8.28 to place sixth in the 60m hurdles while
Tajai Duffus rounded out the Blue Tigers by taking ninth in the 200m at 21.67.
