JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The Lincoln men's indoor track & field team won five events at the IC Snow Bird Invite, hosted by Illinois College on Saturday (Jan. 24).
Melon Lowenfield won the long jump with a leap of 6.92m and
Janoe Richards came in second at 6.78m. In the triple jump,
Dejone Raymond (14.32m),
David Macklin (13.43m) and Lowenfield (13.24m) respectively placed second through fourth.
Lincoln swept the top-three of the 60m hurdles, with
Brandon Harris winning in 8.12,
Joshua Dottin taking second (8.25) and
Rondino Dean, Jr. coming in third (8.68). LU also swept the top-four in the 60m dash, as
Dimitri Beckford won in 6.89. Following him in the next three places were
Dervin Walker (6.911),
Rosean Smith (6.915) and Namarius Warren (6.94). In the 400m,
Ryan Jackson (51.26) was the victor and
Dimetre Browne (52.79) finished in ninth.
LU's other win came in the 4x400m relay, as the foursome of Jackson, Dottin, Browne and Warren posted the quickest time of 3:29.51. Also competing for the Blue Tigers was the team of Walker, Smith, Beckford and
Tajai Duffus, with that foursome placing third in 3:32.30. Rounding out LU's notable finishes were Warren (22.91) and Jackson (22.99) taking second and third, respectively, in the 200m.
Up next for Lincoln is the Washburn Open, hosted by Washburn University in Topeka, Kan. on Friday and Saturday (Jan. 30-31).
