FAYETTE, Mo. - The Lincoln men's outdoor track & field team won three of the field events and six events overall at the CMU Invite, hosted by Central Methodist University on Friday and Saturday (March 28-29).
Dejone Raymond won the high jump with a mark of 1.96m and came in fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 13.41m. The triple jump was won by
Malik Drummond, who had a top distance of 15.29m. In the long jump,
Wesley Tyndall won with a leap of 7.51m while
Melon Lowenfield came in sixth (6.99m).
The team of Clinton Laguerre,
Emmanuel Rwotomiya,
Sharim Hamilton and
Leondre Francis won the 4x400m relay in 3:06.23. Laguerre also won the 400m hurdles, timing in at 52.59, and Hamilton was the runner-up with a time of 52.61.
Joshua Dottin (55.45) placed fifth in the 400m hurdles and Ryan Hayes (56.89) came in ninth.
Dervin Walker had LU's other victory, claiming the title in the 100m dash in 10.38. Tajai Duffus also represented Lincoln in that event, finishing in 10.52 to take eighth place. In the 200m, Rwotomiya (20.61) took third, Duffus (20.99) finished in sixth and
Reuben Nichols (21.06) claimed seventh. Nichols (46.46) and Francis (47.49) respectively came in second and third in the 400m.
Lincoln had two teams finish among the top-eight in the 4x100m relay. The foursome of Walker, Duffus,
Ryan Jackson and
Derick Robinson posted a time of 41.40 to take fifth place. Meanwhile, the team of Dottin,
LaRon Jones,
Christopher Allen and
Gabriel Williams clocked in at 44.08 to come in eighth.
Donovan Bruce placed third in the 800m, clocking in at 1:58.29, and Dottin finished fourth in the 110m hurdles after timing in at 14.63.
The Blue Tigers will be in Jefferson City, Mo. next Saturday (April 5) to host the Lincoln Open at Dwight T. Reed Stadium.
