BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Facing a field composed almost entirely of NCAA Division I competition, the Lincoln women's indoor track & field team held its own, posting 22 top-10 results at the Indiana Early Bird, hosted by Indiana University on Friday (Dec. 12).
Aaliyannah Anderson won the 60m hurdles in 8.48 and
Brittania Ingram was the runner up in the triple jump with a distance of 11.30m. Ingram (5.36m) and
Shamar-Kay Fable (4.90m) respectively took fourth and ninth in the long jump while
Zoria Shields had a mark of 9.38m to claim 10th in the shot put.
In the 200m,
Quana Walker (24.59) was the runner-up, Anderson (24.93) came in third,
Tonya Rawlins (25.54) took seventh and
Alexis Summers (25.62) placed ninth. Summers (7.72) and Rawlins (7.73) checked in at fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 60m dash. In the 400m, Walker took second in 56.92 while
Odeshia Nanton finished in 57.94 to come in seventh.
The foursome of Nanton, Walker, Anderson and
Maria Diamond took fifth in the 4x400m relay after timing in at 3:53.73. Also competing in the 4x400m relay was the squad of
Ezthia Maycock,
Calah McDonald,
Malika Coutain and
Hannah Fatade, which finished in 4:01.97 to take eighth place.
In the 800m, Diamond (2:21.22) took fifth,
Hannah Charles (2:21.59) placed third, Fatade (2:22.19) came in seventh and
Jeneail Henry (2:33.53) took ninth. Meanwhile, in the mile, Fatade (5:25.89), Charles (5:32.26) and Henry (5:32.64) respectively finished in fifth, sixth and seventh.
Lincoln will now be off until Jan. 16, when the Blue Tigers travel to Columbia, Mo. to compete in the Show Me Showdown, hosted by the University of Missouri.
