BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Lincoln men's indoor track & field team posted 21 top-10 finishes against mainly NCAA Division I competition at the Indiana Early Bird, hosted by Indiana University on Friday (Dec. 12).
The Blue Tigers won two events, including the triple jump, where
Malik Drummond had the event's longest distance of 14.79m.
David Macklin took sixth in that event with a mark of 13.43m.
Dejone Raymond placed third in the high jump at 2.03m while, in the long jump,
Melon Lowenfield (6.93m) took fourth, Drummond (6.72m) claimed eighth and Macklin (6.35m) placed 10th.
LU's other win was in the 60m hurdles, as
Brandon Harris had the fastest time of 7.98. Rondino Dean and
Joshua Dottin each finished that event in 8.25. In the 60m dash,
Dimitri Beckford took fifth in 6.88 and
Tajai Duffus clocked in at 7.92 to finish in seventh.
The Blue Tigers dominated the 200m, with Duffus (21.84) finishing as the runner-up,
Keano Charles (21.91) taking fourth,
Dervin Walker (22.14) checking in at sixth and Beckford (22.21) placing seventh.
Franklyn Tayloe timed in at 1:54.98 to finish in third in the 800m, and, in the 400m,
Donovan Bruce (48.84) and Charles (49.63) respectively came in fourth and 10th.
Nathan Allen had a seventh-place showing in the mile, timing in at 4:58.85. In the 4x400m relay, the foursome of Harris, Tayloe, Bruce and Charles came in third with a time of 3:15.55. Also in that event, the team of
Ryan Jackson, Dottin, Allen and Walker placed eighth in 3:26.93.
After the holiday break, the Blue Tigers will make the short trip up to Columbia, Mo. to compete in the Show Me Showdown, hosted by the University of Missouri on Jan. 16.
