THE TIP OFF:  For the first time in 2025, the LU women's basketball team will play on its home court as Lincoln hosts a pair of GLVC opponents this week. On Thursday (Jan. 9), the Blue Tigers will take on Drury in a 5:30 p.m. CST contest. Lincoln will then play its first rematch of the season on Saturday (Jan. 11) when the Blue Tigers host Southwest Baptist at 1:00 p.m. CST. LU and SBU faced off on Nov. 30, when a huge first quarter performance helped the Bearcats beat the Blue Tigers, 102-67. SBU has since lost four of the five games it has played and will try to snap a two-game skid on Saturday. Drury, meanwhile, has won three-straight games and enters the week with a 9-3 overall record as well as a 5-0 mark in league play. LU last played on Friday (Jan. 3), falling on the road to Quincy, 80-49. Lincoln was scheduled to play again on Sunday at Truman State, but that contest is postponed due to inclement weather.

FAST BREAKS
- This is the 14th meeting between Lincoln and Drury, with the Panthers having won each of the past 13 games.

- Lincoln played Drury, then ranked No. 17 in the nation, last season. The Panthers won that game, played on DU's home court, 86-49.

- The Blue Tigers will play the Bearcats for the 43rd time on Saturday. Southwest Baptist leads the series, 32-10, and has won each of the past four meetings.

PREVIEWING THE BLUE TIGERS:  Hanne Nybo leads the Blue Tigers in both scoring (11.2 ppg.) and rebounding (6.5 rpg.) and is shooting .750 at the free throw line as well as .393 overall. Next on the scoring chart is Ayreona Carter with 10.2 ppg. while Biance Stocks averages 7.4 points and 2.9 boards. Imani Harris (7.3 ppg.) rounds out LU's top scorers and Chase Giddings averages 1.1 steals.

HEAD COACH ADDAE HOUSTON:  A 17-year coaching veteran with strong ties to Missouri, Houston is in his first season as the head coach of the Blue Tigers. Houston helped DI Northwestern State record a .714 home winning percentage in 2023-24 following a successful four-year run as an assistant coach at Northwest Missouri, his alma mater. He was the head coach at Southwestern Community College from 2013-18, leading the team to its first postseason win in over a decade.

LAST TIME OUT:  Ayreona Carter matched Isis Sanders with 10 points and Hanne Nybo scored seven, but the Blue Tigers fell to Quincy, 80-49, in Illinois on Friday (Jan. 3). Lincoln forced QU into 14 turnovers, but Quincy shot .500 from the field and finished with a 40-29 advantage on the glass against LU. Biance Stocks added six points and four boards and Kiara Cabrera scored eight.

SCOUTING THE PANTHERS:  Drury outscores its opponents by an average of 80.4-73.3 and shoots an impressive .468 from the field. Caitlyn Daniels (14.4 ppg., 5.8 apg., 5.7 rpg.) and Rhi Gibbons (14.3 ppg.) are DU's main scorers while Sara Mendel is pulling down 8.1 rebounds per game while scoring 8.8 points.

DU HEAD COACH KACI BAILEY:  In her first year at Drury in 2023-24, Bailey led the Panthers to a 25-7 record and a berth in the NCAA Division II tournament. Bailey, who began her head coaching career at Quincy, spent seven seasons as a Division I assistant at Witchita State, Central Arkansas and George Mason.

SCOUTING THE BEARCATS:  Three players on this year's Southwest Baptist squad average at least 10 points per game, including Amber Storr, who tallies 12.3 points per game. Odett Schlegl averages 11.8 points per night, Tori Hamilton leads the team in both scoring (12.6 ppg.) and rebounding (8.8) and LJ Boyland is next with 9.6 points per contest. SBU shoots .401 from the field but is allowing opponents to shoot .402.

SBU HEAD COACH WYKETHA HARRELL:  The second-year head coach of Southwest Baptist is 15-24 with the Bearcats. Harrell spent eight years as the associate head coach at NCAA Division I New Orleans, highlighted by one of the longest home winning streaks in program history. She also worked at DI schools Kent State and UMKC after starting her DII career at Missouri Southern.

FAMILIAR FACES:  Lincoln joined the GLVC last summer, but has still faced plenty of its former rivals from the MIAA this season. LU opened its road slate against Washburn on Nov. 25 before playing at Missouri Western on Nov. 26. The Blue Tigers took on Central Missouri and Emporia State to end their non-conference slate. As full members of the GLVC, LU also plays former MIAA opponents Missouri S&T, Truman State and Southwest Baptist twice this season.

NIFTY NYBO:  Hanne Nybo has done a bit of everything this year, including leading LU with 11.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Nybo, who has two double-doubles this season, has also dished 11 assists, registered 10 steals and blocked six shots. Nybo scored a season-high 21 against Upper Iowa and has grabbed at least six rebounds in seven contests.

ON THE CHASE:  Chase Giddings, who had three steals against Principia, leads Lincoln with 12 takeaways. Giddings has four total games with multiple takeaways. She is also sixth on the team in scoring with 4.8 points per game with a season-high 11 points against Upper Iowa.

NEW BEGINNING:  Imani Harris, who spent the 2023-24 season as a redshirt with the Blue Tigers, has emerged as one of LU's top scorers in her first season at Lincoln. Harris, who was ranked as the No. 1 points guard in New York in high school and began her career at Division I Siena, has twice scored 13 points this year and is fourth on the team with 7.3 points per night.

ON TRACK:  Ayreona Carter, who spent 2023-24 as a part of Lincoln's track & field program, has returned to play on the women's basketball team this season and is off to a strong start. Carter, who played basketball in 2021-22 and 2022-23, is currently second on the team with 10.2 points per game. Carter is also averaging 3.9 rebounds and has blocked six shots while recording seven steals.

TWO FOUR FOR THREE:  Biance Stocks, #24 on LU's 2024-25 roster, has emerged as Lincoln's best shooter from long distance. Stocks, who is 21st in the GLVC in treys made per game, has drained 15 treys on the season, a team-high. Stocks, who scored 28 points against Emporia State, has made at least one trey in eight games this year.
