THE TIP OFF:Â The Lincoln women's basketball team opens the new year this weekend with a pair of road games against GLVC opponents. The Blue Tigers begin a run of 16-straight conference games on Friday (Jan. 3) when LU travels to Quincy, Ill. to play Quincy in a 5:30 p.m. CST contest. Lincoln also plays on Sunday (Jan. 5) in Kirksville, Mo. against Truman State at 1:00 p.m. CST. The Blue Tigers last played on Saturday, Dec. 21, when Lincoln dropped a hard-fought game to Emporia State, 73-62. Quincy enters the weekend with a 7-5 overall mark and a 1-2 record in league play after snapping a brief two-game skid with a 74-68 neutral site victory against Western Washington. Truman State, meanwhile, is 5-8 on the year and have dropped three in a row.

FAST BREAKS
- Quincy and Lincoln will meet for the 21st time when the teams play in Illinois on Friday. The Hawks lead the series, 13-7.

- LU and QU last met in 2016, when the Hawks eked out a 73-70 victory in Quincy, Ill.

- On Sunday, Lincoln and Truman State will meet for the 58th time since LU became an NCAA program in 1980. TSU leads the series, 44-13.

PREVIEWING THE BLUE TIGERS:Â Hanne Nybo leads the Blue Tigers in both scoring (11.6 ppg.) and rebounding (6.9 rpg.) and is shooting .762 at the free throw line as well as .400 overall. Next on the scoring chart is
Ayreona Carter with 10.3 ppg. while
Biance Stocks averages 7.5 points and 2.9 boards.
Imani Harris (7.3 ppg.) rounds out LU's top scorers and
Chase Giddings averages 1.1 steals.

HEAD COACH ADDAE HOUSTON:Â A 17-year coaching veteran with strong ties to Missouri, Houston is in his first season as the head coach of the Blue Tigers. Houston helped DI Northwestern State record a .714 home winning percentage in 2023-24 following a successful four-year run as an assistant coach at Northwest Missouri, his alma mater. He was the head coach at Southwestern Community College from 2013-18, leading the team to its first postseason win in over a decade.

LAST TIME OUT:Â Biance Stocks had a career game, finishing with 28 points, six rebounds, three steals, an assist and a block in 39 minutes of work. The Blue Tigers hung with Emporia State for most of the day, but the Lady Hornets ended up with a 73-62 win over Lincoln in Jason Gym on December 21.
Hanne Nybo finished with 11 points and six boards while
Ayreona Carter chipped in 10 points.

SCOUTING THE HAWKS:Â Quincy out-scores its opponents by 75.7-69.0 per game with five players averaging over nine points per contest. Nicole McDermott leads QU with 16.1 ppg. and 3.3 apg. while also grabbing 6.7 rebounds. Mariann Blass is averaging 12.8 points, Karsyn Stratton is next with 10.1 and Cymirah Williams averages 9.2 points and a team-high 9.7 rebounds.

QU HEAD COACH COURTNEY BOYD: Â In her second season as the head coach at Quincy, Boyd has a 17-23 record. Boyd enjoyed a stellar six-year tenure as the head coach at Clarke, leading the Pride to 155 victories, including a pair of 30-win seasons, and the 2022-23 NAIA national title.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS:Â Truman State scores nearly as many points (70.2) points per game as it allows (70.5). Jordan Cunningham leads the team with 16.8 points and 3.2 assists while matching Maddie Niemeier, who tallies 10.8 points per night, with a rebounding average of 4.6. Molly Joyce adds 15.8 points per night and Bryar Duwe is scoring 8.6 points and Lexie White averages 4.3 boards.

TSU HEAD COACH THEO DEAN: Â Dean began his tenure at Truman as a student manager, then became a graduate assistant and later served as the assistant coach from 2016-19. Dean was promoted to head coach following the 2018-19 season and guided the Bulldogs to four-straight winning seasons. He's been a part of five Bulldog teams who posted at least 20 victories.

FAMILIAR FACES:Â Lincoln joined the GLVC last summer, but has still faced plenty of its former rivals from the MIAA this season. LU opened its road slate against Washburn on Nov. 25 before playing at Missouri Western on Nov. 26. Lincoln took on both Central Missouri and Emporia State to end its non-conference slate. Meanwhile, as members of the GLVC, LU also plays former MIAA opponents Missouri S&T, Truman State and Southwest Baptist.

NIFTY NYBO:Â Hanne Nybo has done a bit of everything this year, including leading LU with 11.6 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. Nybo, who has two double-doubles this season, has also dished 11 assists, registered nine steals and blocked six shots. She scored a season-high 21 against Upper Iowa and has grabbed at least six rebounds in seven contests.

ON THE CHASE:Â Chase Giddings, who had three steals against Principia, leads Lincoln with 11 takeaways. Giddings has four total games with multiple takeaways. She is also fifth on the team in scoring with 5.0 points per game with a season-high 11 points against Upper Iowa.

NEW BEGINNING:Â Imani Harris, who spent the 2023-24 season as a redshirt with the Blue Tigers, has emerged as one of LU's top scorers in her first season at Lincoln. Harris, who was ranked as the No. 1 points guard in New York in high school and began her career at Division I Siena, has twice scored 13 points this year and is fourth on the team with 7.3 points per night.

ON TRACK:Â Ayreona Carter, who spent 2023-24 as a part of Lincoln's track & field program, has returned to play on the women's basketball team this season and is off to a strong start. Carter, who played basketball in 2021-22 and 2022-23, is currently second on the team with 10.3 points per game. Carter is also averaging 4.0 rebounds and has blocked five shots while recording seven steals.

TWO FOUR FOR THREE:Â Biance Stocks, #24 on LU's 2024-25 roster, has emerged as Lincoln's best shooter from long distance. Stocks, who is 17th in the GLVC in treys made per game, has drained 15 treys on the season, a team-high. Stocks, who scored 28 points against Emporia State, has made at least one trey in seven games this year.
