MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Lincoln women's indoor track & field team won two events at the Bearcat Open, hosted by Northwest Missouri State University on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 2-3).
Annalisa Barclay was the champion of the triple jump with her distance of 11.98m while
Shantae George won the 60m in 7.53. In the latter event,
Jovanna Gustave finished in sixth, timing in at 7.68. George, meanwhile, placed sixth in the 200m with a time of 24.88 and joined with
Shevanae Thomas,
Odeshia Nanton and Shaneal Clarke-Giddings to take third in the 4x400m relay in 3:45.84.
Nanton led four Blue Tigers that finished among the top-10 in the 400m by placing second in 56.10. Thomas (57.27) came in fifth,
Denita Jackson (58.19) checked in at eighth, and
Abigail Brooks (58.30) took ninth.
Shanette Allison finished in third place in the 60m hurdles, clocking in at 8.82, and
Ellis Cohen claimed fourth in the high jump with a mark of 1.56m.
Clarke-Giddings was one of four LU runners to finish in the top-10 of the 600-yard, finishing as the runner-up with a time of 1:24.89. Brooks (1:25.45) placed fourth, Nanton (1:25.65) came in fifth and Thomas (1:25.77) checked in at sixth. In the 800m, Clarke-Giddings recorded a time of 2:13.20 to finish in sixth and Doreen Onchangu took eighth with a time of 2:20.95.
Up next for the Blue Tigers is the Ichabod Invitational, hosted by Washburn University in Topeka, Kan. next Saturday (Feb. 10).
