THE TIP OFF: The Lincoln women's basketball team closes its 2023-24 campaign this week with its final two games as a member of the MIAA. On Thursday night (Feb. 29), the Blue Tigers host Northeastern State in a 5:30 p.m. CST decision. Thursday is Lincoln's annual Coaches vs. Cancer game as well as Greek Night, with members of LU's sororities and fraternities performing through the night. On Saturday (March 2), the Blue Tigers will host Rogers State at 1:00 p.m. CST. Saturday will be a White Out game, with fans encouraged to wear white shirts to the game, and is also Senior Day, with a ceremony set to be held after the contest honoring Lincoln's graduating players. These games will be the last of the MIAA era for LU, which is joining the GLVC as a full member starting next season.
FAST BREAKS
- Northeastern State and Lincoln will meet for the 15th time on Saturday, with the RiverHawks leading the all-time series, 8-6.
- LU and NSU met in Tahlequah, Okla. on Jan. 20, with the RiverHawks winning, 67-54.
- On Saturday, Lincoln and Rogers State will meet for the seventh time. RSU leads the series, 5-1.
- Rogers State won the last meeting, 61-54, in Claremore, Okla. back on Jan. 18.
PREVIEWING THE BLUE TIGERS: Leading the Blue Tigers in both scoring (15.0) and rebounding (7.1) is
Ashlyn Alloway, who also has 39 steals and 25 blocks.
Miriam Bazylewicz and
Imani Jones are each averaging 6.7 ppg. while
Saniya Simmons is tallying 5.7 points and 2.3 assists per contest.
AJ Bradley averages 6.5 points while
Biance Stocks averages 5.1 points and 2.7 boards.
HEAD COACH ANDREA MIZE: Andrea Mize is in her fourth year as the head coach at Lincoln after a successful two-year run at Central Florida College. In 2019-20, Mize led CFC to a 19-win year that included a victory in the first round of the FCSAA playoffs. Mize previously was an assistant at Martin Methodist, helping the program reach the NAIA national tournament three times.

Washburn 71, Lincoln 62
Lincoln scored 40 points in the second half, but an 18-4 run in the second quarter gave Washburn a big lead that the Blue Tigers were unable to catch as the Ichabods won, 71-62, on Thursday (Feb. 22).
Ashlyn Alloway had a double-double, leading LU with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Hanne Nybo and
AJ Bradley each added 10 points.
Emporia State 73, Lincoln 59
The game was tied at 13 after the first quarter, but Emporia State shot .490 from the field en route to a 73-59 win over the Blue Tigers on Saturday (Feb. 24) in Emporia, Kan. Lincoln also shot well with a .458 field goal percentage, and
Ashlyn Alloway led LU with 23 points, six rebounds and four steals.
AJ Bradley dished five assists and Miraim Bazylewicz scored eight points.
SCOUTING THE RIVERHAWKS: Three players are averaging double digit points for Northeastern State, led by Halie Jones with 12.4 ppg. Courtney Lee averages 11.4 points and a team-leading 6.3 rebounds while Tor'e Alford averages 10.4 points. The RiverHawks are scoring 64.3 points per night and allowing 61.7.
NSU HEAD COACH KEITH FERGUSON: The first-year head coach of the RiverHawks came to NSU after a highly successful seven-year stint as the head coach at his alma mater, Bethany. Under Ferguson's leadership, Bethany had six-straight winning seasons, with three 20-win campaigns. Ferguson coached 16 all-conference selections and one All-American.
SCOUTING THE HILLCATS: Alayzha Knapp is having a strong all-around season, averaging 17.0 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.2 steals. She leads Rogers State in scoring, and Trinity Jackson leads RSU in rebounding with 6.8 per contest. Alyza Aikins averages 7.9 points, Kaya Goldsby leads the Hillcats with 3.1 assists per night, and Kylee Day averages 6.4 points and 3.2 boards.
RSU HEAD COACH HEATHER DAVIS: In her first season as the head coach at Rogers State, Davis has posted a 10-16 record. Davis played at Central Oklahoma and later spent eight years as UCO's top assistant coach, leading the Bronchos to over 150 victories. Davis also served as the top assistant at Southwestern Oklahoma State for one year before coming to Rogers State.
SENIOR DAY: Following Lincoln's game against Rogers State on Saturday, the Blue Tigers will hold a special ceremony honoring its graduating players. The Lincoln women's basketball team has three seniors who will be recognized after the game:
Miriam Bazylewicz,
AJ Bradley and
Steph Torres.
SECOND WATCH: AJ Bradley has excelled at getting to the line, as, in four years at Lincoln, she has attempted 439 free throws. Bradley has made 298 of those attempts and has moved into a tie for second place in program history in total career made free throws. Bradley now has made the same number of free throws as Andrea Sykes, who also made 298 free throws from 1995-99. With just one more made free throw this week, Bradley will have second place all to herself.
SHOOTING STAR: Ashlyn Alloway is shooting .507 from the field, a shooting percentage that ranks third in the MIAA and 50th in NCAA Division II. Alloway has made 150 total field goals, the sixth-most this year by an MIAA player. Alloway, who also rates eighth in the MIAA in scoring (15.0), is additionally shooting .333 from three-point range and .774 at the line.
TURN IT OVER: Lincoln has been one of the best teams in the MIAA in forcing turnovers, rating third in the league with 16.4 takeaways per game. The Blue Tigers have won the turnover battle 11 times in 2023-24 and have a 6-5 record in such games. The Blue Tigers average 8.4 steals per contest, the fourth-most in the MIAA.
THEY'RE FREE: Nine Blue Tigers are shooting .700 or better at the free throw line, with
Alyssa McCarty leading the way with an .810 percentage.
Kiara Cabrera (.800) and
Biance Stocks (.810) are also shooting at least .800 while
Emma Wolken and
Miriam Bazylewicz are shooting .750.
WELCOME BACK: The Blue Tigers have received steady production from three players who returned from injury this season. Against Nebraska Kearney, Bazylewicz led the Blue Tigers with 20 points on 8-for-13 shooting.
Hanne Nybo, who missed last season, is averaging 3.5 rebounds per game while
Imani Jones, who also missed last year, is tallying 6.7 points per contest.
