TOPEKA, Kan. - Lincoln's women's and men's indoor track & field teams combined to win two events and post nine total top-three finishes at the Ichabod Invitational, hosted by Washburn University on Saturday (Feb. 10).
Shantae George set a new meet record in the women's 60m dash, clocking in with the winning time of 7.42. George later took 10th in the 200m, finishing with a time of 24.69.
Shaneal Clarke-Giddings was the runner-up of the 800m, timing in at 2:14.88, and she also joined with
Denita Jackson,
Odeshia Nanton and
Shevanae Thomas to take second in the 4x400m relay in 3:47.93.
Ellis Cohen was the runner-up of the high jump open with a height of 1.60m, and
Nehlia Mills claimed ninth in the high jump invitational with an equal mark of 1.60m.
Annalisa Barclay also turned in a second-place finish for the LU women, as she posted a distance of 12.29m in the triple jump. Nanton (56.70) claimed third and Jackson (58.00) took ninth in the 400m, and
Abigail Brooks ended the 600-yard in fifth with a time of 1:26.50.
Emmanuel Rwotomia won the men's 400m with a time of 48.15 while
Reuben Nichols (48.49) came in third and
Sharim Hamilton (49.39) rounded out the top-10. Nichols also came in second in the 200m, timing in at 21.39, while
Malik Drummond finished seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 14.05m.
Both LU track & field teams are headed to Lincoln, Neb. on Friday (Feb. 16) to compete in the Nebraska Tune-Up, hosted by the University of Nebraska.
