THE TIP OFF:  The Lincoln women's basketball teams takes a break from conference play to take on a pair of opponents over the next four days. On Saturday (Dec. 14), the Blue Tigers close a three-game homestand with a 1:00 p.m. CST contest against Principia. On Tuesday (Dec. 17), Lincoln reignites one of its oldest rivalries by playing former MIAA opponent Central Missouri at 6:00 p.m. CST in Warrensburg, Mo. Lincoln won its first game of the season, beating Harris Stowe in Jason Gym back on Nov. 13, but have since been held off the win column, most recently falling in a hard-fought game to Upper Iowa, 69-56, last Saturday (Dec. 7). Principia, an NCAA Division III team located in Elsah, Ill., is 5-2 entering the week while Central Missouri currently owns an overall record of 7-5.
 
FAST BREAKS
- On Saturday, Lincoln and Principia will play against each other for the first time ever.
 
- Tuesday will mark the 70th meeting between Lincoln and Central Missouri, with the Jennies leading the series, 66-3.
 
- Central Missouri won the last time it played Lincoln, 77-44, in Warrensburg on Feb. 3, 2024.
 
- LUs last two wins vs. UCM both came in Warrensburg, as Lincoln won, 82-76, in 2015-16, and 57-53 in 2011-12.
 
PREVIEWING THE BLUE TIGERS:  Hanne Nybo leads the Blue Tigers in both scoring (12.3 ppg.) and rebounding (7.0 rpg.) and is shooting .824 at the free throw line as well as .438 overall. Next on the scoring chart is Ayreona Carter with 10.5 ppg. while Biance Stocks averages 6.3 points and 3.1 boards. Imani Harris (7.6 ppg.) rounds out LU's top scorers and Chase Giddings averages 1.1 steals.
 
HEAD COACH ADDAE HOUSTON:  A 17-year coaching veteran with strong ties to Missouri, Houston is in his first season as the head coach of the Blue Tigers. Houston helped DI Northwestern State record a .714 home winning percentage in 2023-24 following a successful four-year run as an assistant coach at Northwest Missouri, his alma mater. He was the head coach at Southwestern Community College from 2013-18, leading the team to its first postseason win in over a decade.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Lewis 86, Lincoln 46
Lewis had a hot shooting night, firing at a .522 pace overall and .476 from three-point range as the Flyers beat Lincoln, 86-46, on Thursday (Dec. 5). Hanne Nybo led LU with 17 points, Kaleah Toran had two steals and Ayreona Carter grabbed four rebounds while scoring seven points.
 
Upper Iowa 69, Lincoln 56
Hanne Nybo scored 21 points, grabbed eight boards, dished two assists and blocked a shot, but the Blue Tigers fell to Upper Iowa, 69-56, in Jason Gym on Saturday (Dec. 7). Both Biance Stocks and Chase Giddings finished with 11 points and three rebounds while Ayreona Carter scored eight and dished four assists.
 
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS:  Principia is led by Taylor Brown offensively (15.1 ppg.) and Ariana Williams defensively (9.1 ppg., 8.4 rpg., 2.4 spg.). Trinniti Matthews averages 9.7 points and 6.3 boards while Lamiya Terrell averages a team-high 2.6 assists.
 
PC HEAD COACH RAMIRO DOMINGUEZ:  In his fourth season as the head coach of Principia, Dominguez has led the program to improved win totals each season, going from 1-19 in his first year to 15-12 last season. Dominguez has run the Players First Basketball Organization for 32 years and he is the Director of Operations for both NEXT Camp and EGT.
 
SCOUTING THE JENNIES:  Central Missouri's five starters do the bulk of the scoring, led by Reese Schaaf, who averages 17.8 points and 9.0 rebounds. Lauren Frost is scoring 11.2 points per night to go with a team-high 4.1 assists and Allie Clevenger is next with 9.8 ppg. Rounding out the starters for UCM are Taylor Weishaar (9.5 ppg.) and Cierra Smith (7.8 ppg.). Among the reserves for Central Missouri, Jolie Bonderer leads the way with 3.3 points per contest.
 
UCM HEAD COACH DAVE SLIFER:  Entering the weekend, Slifer has over 425 victories with the Jennies, the most of any coach in the history of the UCM program, and more than 800 wins in his career. Slifer, who was selected as the WBCA Regional Coach of the Year in 2013, has led the Jennies to 13 seasons with 20 or more wins and the 2018 NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Championship.
 
FAMILIAR FACES:  Lincoln joined the GLVC last summer, but has still faced plenty of its former rivals from the MIAA this season. LU opened its road slate against Washburn on Nov. 25 before playing at Missouri Western on Nov. 26. Next week, Lincoln will take on both Central Missouri and Emporia State. As members of the GLVC, LU also plays former MIAA opponents Missouri S&T, Truman State and Southwest Baptist.
 
NIFTY NYBO:  Hanne Nybo has done a bit of everything this year, including leading LU with 12.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. Nybo has also dished six assists, registered six steals and blocked three shots while shooting .438 overall.
 
LOCAL TALENT:  A pair of Jefferson City natives have given Lincoln quality minutes this season, as both Emma Wolken and Lyssa Sportsman have played in all seven games. Wolken, a Blair Oaks grad, has three steals and three assists to go with 12 rebounds. Sportsman, who is a Jefferson City High graduate, has 16 boards and a pair of steals as well as two assists.
 
ON TRACK:  Ayreona Carter, who spent 2023-24 as a part of Lincoln's track & field program, has returned to play on the women's basketball team this season and is off to a strong start. Carter, who played basketball in 2021-22 and 2022-23, is currently second on the team with 10.5 points per game. Carter is also averaging 3.5 rebounds and has blocked four shots while recording six steals.
 
TWO FOUR FOR THREE:  Biance Stocks, #24 on LU's 2024-25 roster, has emerged as Lincoln's best shooter from long distance. Stocks, who is 22nd in the GLVC in treys made per game, has drained 10 treys on the season, a team-high. Stocks has made at least one three in six of her seven games, with two performances of three made treys.
