THE KICKOFF:  The final two road matches of the year have arrived for the Lincoln women's soccer team, which has four games remaining in its inaugural season. LU will open the weekend in Kirksville, Mo. against Truman State on Friday (Oct. 25), with kickoff scheduled for 12:00 p.m. CDT. On Sunday (Oct. 27), Lincoln visits Quincy, Ill. to play Quincy at 12:00 p.m. CDT. The Blue Tigers played two very close contests at home last weekend, falling to Upper Iowa on Friday (Oc.t 18) and Lewis on Sunday (Oct. 20), with both games ending in a 2-1 defeat for Lincoln.
 
WARM UPS
- The Blue Tigers are 5-9 in the first-ever year of women's soccer at Lincoln University of Missouri.
 
- Truman State is 3-6-4 overall and 2-5-3 in GLVC play after dropping a pair of 1-0 decisions to Drury and to Southwest Baptist last weekend.
 
- Quincy enters the weekend 3-7-3 on the season as well as 3-4-3 in conference play, but has two wins and a tie in its past three matches.
 
PREVIEWING THE BLUE TIGERS:  Carolina Dos Santos scored the first goal in the history of the LU women's soccer program in Lincoln's 1-0 win over Minnesota-Crookston while Ivanna Faria has scored seven goals, including four game-winners. Michelle Granja is 3-4 in the net with a trio of shutouts and Kanon Dehama is 2-5 with 46 saves. Grace Larson and Angela Reynolds have also scored goals and Francesca Tucci-Haack and Jia Diaz have assists.
 
HEAD COACH LEAH STRINGER:  With a pair of wins in LU's first-ever matches, Leah Stringer is off to a strong start as the coach of the Blue Tigers. No stranger to NCAA Division II or the great state of Missouri, Stringer is in her first year coaching LU after spending the previous three seasons as an assistant at Missouri Western. She helped lead the Griffons to the No. 13 national ranking in 2021 and helped the team post a .708 win percentage that season.
 
PREVIOUS RESULTS
Upper Iowa 2, Lincoln 1
Upper Iowa scored a pair of first half goals, finding the back of the net in both the 22nd minute and the 36th minute, and held off a late comeback attempt by the Blue Tigers to win, 2-1, in Jefferson City on Friday (Oct. 18). Grace Larson scored LU's goal in the 85th minute and Kanon Dehama made eight saves.
 
Lewis 2, Lincoln 1
Ivanna Faria scored her seventh goal of the season at the 58:39 mark to tie the game, but Lewis got the 2-1 win after striking in the 68th minute on Sunday (Oct. 20). Michelle Granja made seven saves and Angela Reynolds had three shots on goal.
 
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS:  Truman State has scored 13 goals while allowing 12. Lia Quintero leads TSU with four goals, followed by Aubrey Kaupas and Emma Thompson with two goals each. Tatumn Damron has notched four shutouts and made 62 saves in 1,170 minutes of work.
 
SCOUTING THE HAWKS:  Julia Mincher has 74 saves and two shutouts, but has allowed 19 goals in 1,170 minutes in the net. Quincy has scored 12 goals as a team, with Dache Johnson, Daniella Segall, Ella Wolfard and Olivia Nelson scoring two goals apiece. Reegan Hess leads the Hawks with three goals and Belle Dehner has two assists.
 
SHOOTING STAR:  Through 14 matches this season, Ivanna Faria has scored seven goals to lead the team and rank sixth in the GLVC. Four of those goals have been game-winners, a total that ranks eighth in Division II this season. Faria is also high on the national charts in several other stats, ranking 45th in DII in total goals, 13th nationally in shot accuracy (.667) and 39th in the country in shots on goal per match (1.9).
 
FOR THE SAVE:  Michelle Granja leads Lincoln with 54 saves, the eighth-most by a keeper in the GLVC this season. Granja, who recorded 16 saves against Drury, is ranked 13th in NCAA Division II in saves per game (7.7, the most by a player in the GLVC). Kanon Dehama, meanwhile, has 46 saves on the season, the 12th-most in the GLVC. As a team, Lincoln is 21st in the country in saves per game (7.4) as well as second in the GLVC.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:  After just two matches in the history of the program, Lincoln goalkeeper Kanon Dehama was named as the first Defensive Player of the Week for the GLVC in 2024. Dehama helped LU shut out Minnesota-Crookston for a 1-0 victory in the first match in school history and made five saves in a complete-game shutout.
 
A SEASON OF FIRSTS:  This is the first-ever women's soccer team in the history of Lincoln University of Missouri, as the Blue Tigers have had men's soccer in the past but not a women's program. As such, there have been a number of notable firsts this year. The first goal and win came against Minnesota-Crookston; the first home win came against William Woods; and the first GLVC win came against Southwest Baptist.
 
NATIONAL NOTES:  As a team, Lincoln is 21st in DII in saves per game (7.4) and seventh in shot accuracy (.612). Ivanna Faria is 45th in total goals and 92nd in total points (14) while also rating 78th in goals per game (0.5). Grace Larson, meanwhile, is 66th in shots on goal (1.6h).
