JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Lincoln's nationally-ranked track & field teams head to Pittsburg, Kan. this weekend to compete in the 8th Annual Indoor Gorilla Classic, hosted by Pittsburg State University on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 10-11).
The LU women, currently ranked No. 10 in the nation in this week's United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II ratings, have posted multiple marks that rank among the top-10 in the country in their respective events.
Shenese Walker's time of 7.37 in the 60m is tied for the fourth-quickest in the nation, while her time of 24.37 in the 200m rates ninth. In the 60m hurdles,
Sophia Myers is sixth in the country (8.51) while
Shanette Allison is 11th at 8.64.
Lincoln has Division II's ninth-fastest time of 3:48.31 in the 4x400m relay, while in the field events,
Annalisa Barclay's distance of 12.34m ranks eighth nationally. Meanwhile, in the 400m,
Maria Diamond is just outside the top-10 with her time of 55.87, the 11th-best time in DII.
The Blue Tiger men are ranked No. 18 in the USTFCCCA Division II ratings, with the team of
Kevaughn Goldson,
DauJaughn Murray,
Troy Whyte and
Shanthamoi Brown holding the nation's third-fastest mark of 3:12.50 in the 4x400m relay.
Reuben Nichols is fourth in the 400m nationally with his time of 47.37, while his mark of 21.57 in the 200m rates 17th.
Rashane Bartlett owns the country's eighth-quickest time of 7.92 in the 60m hurdles, while Whyte is 17th at 8.01.
