PITTSBURG, Kan. - Lincoln's men's and women's track & field teams combined to qualify 14 finals entries at the 2023 MIAA Indoor Championships, hosted by Pittsburg State University on Saturday (Feb. 25).
Donovan Bruce had the second-quickest qualifying time of 1:11.82 in the men's 600-yard, and
Kewani Campbell had the second-fastest mark of 1:52.81 in the preliminaries of the 800m.
Reuben Nichols qualified for the finals of both the 200m (21.50) and the 400m (47.54), while
Rashane Bartlett qualified for the finals of the 60m hurdles in 7.94.
Shemar Fletcher also qualified for an event final after posting a time of 6.85 in the 60m dash.
In the field event finals, DeJone Raymond took 15th in the high jump (1.92m) and 18th in the long jump (6.44m). In the latter event, Wesley Tyndall (6.82m) took 12th and
Malik Drummond (6.72m) placed 13th.
In the women's 60m,
Shenese Walker qualified second with a time of 7.46 and
Hughasia Fyffe qualified sixth in 7.56. Walker also qualified for the finals of the 200m after clocking in at 24.44.Â
Sophia Myers (8.55) and
Shanette Allison (8.68) each qualified for the finals of the 60m hurdles while
Jameaka Mannings timed in at 1:25.21 to qualify for the finals of the 600-yard. In the 400m,
Maria Diamond (56.40) and
Shevanae Thomas (56.50) will both represent LU in the finals.
Annalisa Barclay, meanwhile, took 11th in the long jump with a leap of 5.46m.
The finals of each track event in the 2023 MIAA Indoor Track & Field Championships will take place on Sunday (Feb. 26).
