JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln women's indoor track & field team is rated No. 9 in the country while the Blue Tiger men are ranked No. 14 in this week's United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II rankings, released on Tuesday (Jan. 31).
The LU women received 75.77 points in this week's ranking to become one of three MIAA programs rated among the top-10 in the country. Pittsburg State (126.58 points) is No. 3 and Northwest Missouri (110.52). Two other MIAA programs received a mention in this week's top-25: No. 13 Central Missouri (49.54) and No. 23 Missouri Southern (32.67). Minnesota State leads the women's ratings with 212.17 points, and Grand Valley State (174.18) is No. 2 while Adams State (110.04) rounds out the top-five.
In the men's rankings, Lincoln collected 57.79 points to be slotted at No. 14 in the nation. MIAA rival Pittsburg State leads the country after garnering 204.98 points, and Adams State earned 196.37 points to check in at No. 2. Closing out the top-three are West Texas A&M (131.39), Colorado-Colorado Springs (97.49) and Grand Valley State (91.63). Other MIAA programs mentioned in the men's top-25 include No. 7 Missouri Southern (77.31); No. 9 Fort Hays State (68.29); No. 13 Central Missouri (60.72); and No. 21 Nebraska Kearney (40.26).
This weekend, both Blue Tiger track & field teams will travel to Maryville, Mo. to compete in the Bearcat Invite, hosted by Northwest Missouri State University on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 3-4).
