LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Lincoln men's indoor track & field team totaled 17 top-10 finishes at the Jayhawk Classic, hosted by the University of Kansas on Friday (Jan. 27).
Malik Drummond won the triple jump with a distance of 14.57m while
Jamir Hunt took fifth with a mark of 12.57m. Drummond (6.52m),
Dejone Raymond (6.40m) and Lenford Pinnock (6.35m) finished seventh through ninth in the long jump, and Raymond placed fifth in the high jump at 1.95m.
Rashane Bartlett was the runner-up of the 60m hurdles after timing in at 7.92, and
Shemar Fletcher placed third in the 60m at 6.82 while
Dimitri Beckford took eighth in the latter event in 6.93.
Donovan Bruce finished as the runner-up in the morning session of the 400m, posting a time of 51.47. In the afternoon race,
Kevaughn Goldson (49.45) and Devaughn Murray (49.78) placed third and fifth, respectively.
Bruce also had a fourth-place result (23.37) in the morning 200m, while, in the afternoon event, Beckford (23.04) and
Imar Tomlinson (24.20) respectively placed sixth and seventh.
Kewani Campbell checked in at fourth in the 600m with a time of 1:21.37. Meanwhile, in the 4x400m relay, the foursome of Campbell, Goldson, Murray and
Shanthamoi Brown placed second at 3:18.26.
The Blue Tigers will travel to Maryville, Mo. next weekend (Feb. 3-4) to compete in the Bearcat Invite, hosted by Northwest Missouri State University.
