JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln women's outdoor track & field team scored 162 points and won nine events to take first place at the Lincoln Open on Saturday (April 9).
LU swept the relays, with the foursome of
Shantae George,
Shevanae Thomas, Hughasia Fyffe and
Monae Carey winning the 4x100m in 46.79. In the 4x400m, the team of Thomas,
Chrissani May,
Maria Diamond and
Kelly-Ann Beckford won in 3:42.50. Diamond was the victor of the 400m hurdles, timing in at 59.68, while
Shanette Allison (14.01) and
Ray-Donna Lee (15.55) respectively took first and third in the 100m hurdles.
Fyffe was the champion of the 100m dash with a time of 12.05, and Carey (12.07) was the runner-up while
Aliyah George (12.32) and Denita Jackson (12.64) respectively came in fourth and sixth. In the 400m dash, Thomas had the winning time of 55.74, and
Shantae George placed second in 58.30.
Beckford won the 800m in 2:12.55, and May came in second after clocking in at 2:13.61. The pair also took first and second in the 1500m, with Beckford winning in 4:49.04, and May posting a time of 4:52.01.
Lincoln runners placed in six of the top-seven spots in the 200m, starting with Thomas' victorious time of 24.62.
Shantae George (24.93), Carey (25.13),
Aliyah George (25.16) and Jackson (25.19) respectively placed second through fifth. Fyffe, meanwhile, claimed seventh in 25.84.
