BOLIVAR, Mo. & FAYETTE, Mo. - The Lincoln women's outdoor track & field team participated in two meets this weekend (April 1-2) and won seven total events. LU scored 75 points to place fifth overall at the SBU Invite, hosted by Southwest Baptist University. Lincoln also tallied 46 points at the CMU Invite, hosted by Central Methodist University, to finish in sixth.
At the SBU Invite,
Maria Diamond took first place in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:00.03, and the foursome of
Shantae George,
Aliyah George,
Monae Carey and Hughasia Fyffe won the 4x100m relay in 46.84. Fyffe also won the 100m, timing in at 11.79, and Carey was the runner-up in 12.01.Â
Shantae George led three Blue Tigers among the top-10 of the 200m by winning the race in 24.53.
Aliyah George came in seventh with a time of 25.08, and
Shevanae Thomas was just .02 behind, taking eighth in 25.10. Thomas, meanwhile, won the 400m in 56.01, and
Shantae George finished in fourth (57.68).
Shanette Allison was the runner-up in the 100m hurdles (13.77), and
Anna Barclay took third in the triple jump (11.94).
At the CMU Invite,
Chrissani May won the 1500m in 4:53.15, and
Kelly-Ann Beckford was the champion of the 400m in 55.91. Denita Jackson came in third in the 100m (12.56) and second in the 200m (25.13), with
Nehlia Mills claiming sixth in the latter event (26.21).
Ray-Donna Lee finished in fifth in the 100m hurdles, timing in at 15.27.
The Blue Tigers will host the Lincoln Open next Saturday (April 9) at Dwight T. Reed Stadium in Jefferson City.
