EMPORIA, Kan. - The Lincoln women's outdoor track & field team opened its 2022 season this weekend by winning five events at the Emporia Relays, hosted by Emporia State University on Friday and Saturday (March 25-26). Lincoln scored 76 points to take second place overall.
Anna Barclay won the triple jump with a distance of 11.78m, and
Maria Diamond was the victor of the 400m hurdles after timing in at 59.51.
Chrissani May was the champion of the 800m after posting a time of 2:11.53, and
Kelly-Ann Beckford took first place in the 1500m in 4:28.05.
Lincoln's other victory came in the 4x400m relay, as the foursome of
Shevanae Thomas, May, Diamond and Beckford won with a time of 3:42.40. In the 4x100m relay, the team of
Monae Carey, Hughasia Fyffe,
Aliyah George and Thomas took third, timing in at 46.83.
Thomas also had a runner-up finish in the 400m, timing in at 56.74, while
Shantae George placed fourth in 57.64.
Shantae George also had a sixth-place result in the 200m, as she clocked in at 25.01. In the 100m, Fyffe (11.98) came in fifth and Carey (12.07) placed ninth.
The Blue Tigers will travel to Maryville, Mo. next weekend for the Bearcat Invitational, hosted by Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Mo. on Friday and Saturday (April 1-2).
