MARYVILLE, Mo. - Lincoln's women's and men's indoor track & field teams combined to win three events and break two records at the Bearcat Invitational, hosted by Northwest Missouri State University on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 4-5).
The LU women's 4x400m relay team, consisting of
Shevanae Thomas,
Maria Diamond,
Chrissani May and
Jameaka Mannings, won with a meet record time of 3:42.74.
Shanette Allison won the 60m hurdles with a meet record time of 8.48, and
Anna Barclay was the victor in the triple jump with a distance of 11.68m.
Kelly-Ann Beckford clocked in at 2:10.60 to finish as the runner-up in the 800m while May timed in at 2:14.97 to place sixth in that event. In the 400m, Mannings (55.76) took fourth and Diamond (56.81) claimed 10th.
Danneika Lyn rounded out the Blue Tiger women with a third-place showing in the 60m dash, as she clocked in at 7.50.
On the men's side, the 4x400m relay squad of
Reuben Nichols,
Kewani Campbell,
Troy Whyte and
Shanthamoi Brown posted a time of 3:12.78 to finish in second place.
Kizan David was the runner-up in the long jump with a leap of 7.22m, and Nichols was the runner-up in the 400m after timing in at 48.05.
Whyte took 10th in the 400m, posting a time of 48.92. In the 200m, Nichols finished in eighth place with a time of 21.88. Campbell, meanwhile, checked in at ninth in the 800m after finishing the race in 1:55.40.
Both Blue Tiger track & field teams will be in Topeka, Kan. on Thursday (Feb. 10) for the Ichabod Mid-Week Challenge, hosted by Washburn University, and then will travel to Pittsburg, Kan. for the 7th Annual Gorilla Indoor Classic, hosted by Pittsburg State University on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 11-12).
