LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Lincoln men's indoor track & field team opened its 2022-23 season on Saturday (Dec. 3) by winning three events at the Bob Timmons Challenge, hosted by the University of Kansas.
Troy Whyte was the champion of the 60m hurdles, timing in at 8.02, while
Rashane Bartlett placed fourth at 8.18.
DauJaughn Murray won the 600-yard with a time of 1:13.53, and
Kevaughn Goldson came in seventh in that event at 1:15.14. Murray and Whyte later helped LU win the 4x400m relay, teaming with
Shanthamoi Brown and
Reuben Nichols to clock in at 3:16.73.
Lincoln's other victory came in the 400m, as Brown won with a time of 49.30. LU swept the top-three of that event, with Nichols (49.31) taking second and Whyte (50.45) coming in third. In the 60m, meanwhile,
Shemar Fletcher was the runner-up after timing in at 6.85, while
Dimitri Beckford,
Jamar Treasure and
Davian Clarke respectively placed fourth through sixth.
Beckford claimed fifth in the 200m with a time of 22.76, followed by Treasure in seventh at 22.83. In the field events,
Malik Drummond claimed second in the triple jump (14.20m) and fifth in the long jump (6.86m).
Dejone Raymond took sixth in the triple jump (13.15m), fourth in the high jump (1.95m) and eighth in the long jump (6.58m).
Jamir Hunt, meanwhile, posted a distance of 12.00m to take seventh in the triple jump.
Up next for the Blue Tigers is the Crimson & Gold Invitational, hosted by Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kan. on Dec. 10.
