MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Lincoln men's indoor track & field team continued its 2022-23 campaign in victorious fashion, winning six events at the Mel Tjeerdsma Classic, hosted by Northwest Missouri State University on Saturday (Dec. 10).
Reuben Nichols had a hand in three of those wins, as he swept both the 200m (21.57, a new meet record) and the 400m (47.37) before helping LU's 4x400m relay team win in 3:12.50.
Kevaughn Goldson,
Troy Whyte and
Shanthamoi Brown were also part of the victorious relay squad, while the foursome of DauJaugn Murray,
Rashane Bartlett, Michael Cunningham and
Leondre Francis took second in 3:16.60.
In the 200m,
Dimitri Beckford claimed sixth with a time of 23.30. Lincoln swept the top-five of the 400m, with Goldson (48.16) finishing as the runner-up, Whyte (48.45) coming in third, Brown (48.48) taking fourth and Murray (48.61) placing fifth. Francis (49.91) came in seventh while Cunningham (50.99) rounded out the top-10.
Shemar Fletcher timed in at 6.80 to win the 60m dash, with Beckford (6.89) and
Davian Clarke (7.07) respectively taking second and fifth. Bartlett picked up a win in the 60m hurdles, clocking in at 8.30, and
Malik Drummond won the triple jump with a distance of 14.50m.
Dejone Raymond, meanwhile, took fourth in the triple jump at 13.91m.
Drummond finished second in the long jump (6.86m), while
Jamir Hunt had a leap of 5.87m to claim ninth. Raymond finished sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.98m to round out LU's performance.
