JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln women's basketball team plays in its only exhibition game of the season on Thursday evening (Nov. 3) as the Blue Tigers travel to Terre Haute, Ind. to play NCAA Division I program Indiana State at 5:00 p.m. CDT.
Lincoln returns eight players from its 2021-22 squad, led by
Le'Yanna McGinnis, who averaged a team-high 9.1 points per game.
Imani Jones (5.0 rpg.) and
Mercy Gonzalez (4.5) are back after finishing among LU's rebounding leaders last season, while NIyah Jackson, an All-MIAA honorable mention in 2020-21, is also back after averaging 7.5 points and a team-high 2.5 assists last year.
Kelsey Mitchell, who was Lincoln's second-leading scorer in 2021-22 with 8.4 points per night, joins
Aliyah Bello,
Ayreona Carter and
AJ Bradley as the other returning Blue Tigers. Bello appeared in 17 games in an injury-shortened campaign while Carter finished the season by shooting .756 at the free throw line while averaging 6.4 points. Bradley, one of NCAA Division II's best free throw shooters in 2021-22, led Lincoln with 1.4 steals per contest last season.
This is the sixth-consecutive year that Lincoln has played an exhibition game against a Missouri Valley Conference opponent. The Blue Tigers and the Sycamores have never met in the regular season.
