LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Lincoln women's indoor track & field team opened its 2021-22 campaign on a high note, winning four events at the Bob Timmons Challenge, hosted by the University of Kansas on Saturday (Dec. 4).
Kelly-Ann Beckford was the victor of the 800m with a time of 2:07.15, and Chrissany May timed in at 2:17.49 to finish as the runner-up. The pair later teamed with
Maria Diamond and
Jameaka Mannings to win the 4x400m relay in 3:46.71. The foursome of Shavanae Thomas,
Aliyah George,
Shantae George and
Nehlia Mills claimed third after timing in at 3:57.82.
Diamond was the champion of the 400m with a time of 56.76, and Mannings was the runner-up with a time of 57.23. Thomas (58.10) claimed fourth,
Shantae George (59.39) checked in at sixth and
Aliyah George (59.81) placed eighth.
Shantae George had LU's other win, timing in at 26.10, while
Monae Carey (26.27) and
Aliyah George (26.48) rounded out the top-three. Mills (26.60) took fourth, and Nettesha Palmer (29.86) checked in at eighth.
Ray-Donna Lee had a pair of fourth-place results, timing in at 9.10 in the 60m hurdles and 7.91 in the 60m dash. In the latter event, Carey took fifth in 7.92, and
Anna Barclay (8.08) placed seventh. Barclay also took second in the triple jump (11.60m) and third in the long jump (5.26m). Mills, meanwhile, took fifth in the triple jump (10.21m) and sixth in the long jump (4.70m).
