Blue Tigers Head to Arkansas for the Battle for the Belt

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln men's golf team travels to Hot Springs, Ark. next week to play in the Battle for the Belt, hosted by Henderson State University at Hot Springs Country Club on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 4-5).

Hunter Ramirez played Lincoln's best round of the season during the first round of the Watkins Invitational, as he finished with an even-par 72 on his first 18 holes of the tourney. Ramirez carded a 78 during the second round, totaling a 150 for the tournament, tying him for 18th overall. Dedrick Harris II had LU's next-lowest score of 154 at that tourney, tying for 31st after shooting a 77 in each of the two rounds. Remon Rabie carded a 158, and Brett Trowbridge rounded out the scoring with a 163.

During the first tournament of the 2021-22 season, the Washburn Invitational, Ramirez shot a 75 during the final round to finish with a three-round score of 245. Rabie matched Ramirez with a 245, and Harris carded a 256 while Trowbridge and Rory Bills also represented the Blue Tigers.

Lincoln is led this year by three returners, including Trowbridge, who competed in seven events last season. Trowbridge finished in 19th at the PGA WORKS Championship, and shot a season-low 74 in the final round of the Mule Invitational. Bills, who came in 29th at the PGA WORKS Championship, joins Ramirez as Lincoln's other returnees. Ramirez carded scores of 76 and 77 at the Lindenwood Invitational, and placed 13th at the season-ending PGA WORKS Championship.

LU also has three new players this fall, including Rabie, a terrific all-around athlete from Pretoria, South Africa. Harris joins Lincoln after earning all-conference awards three times at Parkway Central High in Chesterfield, Mo. Also joining the squad is Henry Baskin, who also starred in football and baseball at McGavock High in Nashville, Tenn.

After the Battle for the Belt, Lincoln will visit Hays, Kan. for the FHSU Tiger Classic, hosted by Fort Hays State University on Oct. 18-19. The Blue Tigers will then close the fall by playing in the Gulf Shores Invitational, a Black College Golf Coaches Association event, on Oct. 25-26.
