HARTSBURG, Mo. - For the second time in two tournaments, Lincoln golfer
Divya Gunasegar won the women's individual championship. The Lincoln men's golf team, meanwhile, tied for eighth at the WWU Fall Invitational, hosted by William Woods University at Eagle Knoll Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 27-28).
Gunasegar won the individual title by two strokes with a two-round total of 158. She shot a 77 in the opening round and an 81 in the second, making her one of only three players in the field to score lower than 80 during either round of the rainy, soggy tournament. The Blue Tigers had two golfers place in the top-five, as
Seannae Norville-Smith tied for fourth with a total of 163 after carding rounds of 84 and 79. Both Gunasegar and Norville-Smith competed as individuals.
The Blue Tiger men posted a team score of 640 to tie for eighth in the 14-team field.
Alejandro Tovar Cardona had LU's lowest total of 153 after shooting a 78 in the first round and a 75 in the second. He finished tied for 18th overall.
Ayden Howard shot a 156 to finish tied for 28th. Howard shaved six strokes off his first round score of 81 to fire a 75 on Tuesday.
Jett Maasen, meanwhile, tied for 41st with a sum of 162 after shooting totals of 81 in each round. Rounding out the Blue Tigers was
Zebulon Barnes, who ended the tournament with a 161. Barnes also improved between rounds, as he shot an 86 on Monday and an 83 on Tuesday.
