THE TIP OFF:Â Three games in five days await the Blue Tigers this week as the Lincoln women's basketball team continues its 2020-21 season. On Tuesday (Jan. 19), LU heads to Topeka, Kan. for a 6:00 p.m. CST game against Washburn. LU then heads back home for the first two contests in a four-game homestand, beginning Thursday (Jan. 21) when the Blue Tigers welcome Rogers State to Jason Gym for a 5:30 p.m. CST match-up. Lincoln next hosts Northeastern State on Saturday (Jan. 23) at 1:00 p.m. CST.
FAST BREAKS
- Tuesday marks the 31st meeting between Washburn and Lincoln. The Ichabods have won each previous game in the series.
- On Thursday, Lincoln will play Rogers State for just the second time ever, and the first time in Jason Gym. RSU is in its second season as an associate member of the MIAA.
- LU's only previous meeting with Rogers State came last year, when the Hillcats won in Claremore, Okla., 99-75.
- Lincoln and Northeastern State will meet for the 10th time on Saturday. The RiverHawks hold a slight 5-4 edge in the all-time series.
- NSU has won the past three meetings, with Lincoln's last win being a 66-62 decision at home in 2016-17.
PREVIEWING THE BLUE TIGERS:Â Lincoln has three players averaging at least 10 points per game, led by Niyah Jackson (15.2 ppg.), who has scored at least 10 in every contest. AJ Bradley (10.0 ppg.) is tied for the team-lead with 15 steals while Deija Jackson averages 10.7 points. Ashtin Ingram has blocked 14 shots, and Simone Jordan averages 9.5 points and 5.8 boards.
HEAD COACH ANDREA MIZE:Â Andrea Mize is in her first year as the head coach at Lincoln after a successful two-year run at Central Florida College. In 2019-20, Mize led CFC to a 19-win season that included a victory in the first round of the FCSAA playoffs. A graduate of Indiana, Mize previously was an assistant coach at Martin Methodist, where she helped the program reach the NAIA national tournament three times.

Newman 81, Lincoln 59
The lead changed 14 times, and the game was tied on four occasions, with LU trailing, 51-47, heading into the final quarter. Newman out-scored Lincoln 30-12 in the fourth quarter, however, to seal the win last Thursday (Jan. 14). Haylie Holloway had 12 points, eight rebounds and seven assists while Niyah Jackson led Lincoln with 15 points.
Central Oklahoma 93, Lincoln 71
AJ Bradley had a career day, scoring 27 points to go with six rebounds and five steals, but Central Oklahoma won, 93-71, on Saturday (Jan. 16) in Edmond, Okla. Niyah Jackson scored 10, Ashtin Ingram had nine points and three blocks, Aliyah Bello had nine points and Vivian Chigbu led LU with nine rebounds.
SCOUTING THE ICHABODS:Â Hunter Bentley (15.2 ppg., 7.6 rpg.), Nuria Barrientos (11.7 ppg., 8.0 rpg.) and Aubree Dewey (10.2 ppg., 3.7 apg.) are Washburn's top scorers, with WU allowing 62.0 points and scoring 61.3 per night. The only other WU players averaging more than six points are Abby Oliver (9.3) and Macy Doebele (6.6).
WU HEAD COACH RON McHENRY:Â In his 21 seasons leading the Ichabods, McHenry has won over 450 games, including the 2004-05 Division II National Championship. McHenry has won eight MIAA regular season and seven tournament titles, winning more than 200 conference games in the process. McHenry previously served on the WU men's coaching staff for 11 seasons..
SCOUTING THE HILLCATS:Â Rogers State is led by the MIAA's third-leading scorer in Samariah Thompson, who averages 20.6 points, 4.9 assists and 5.1 rebounds per night. Maya Buckhanon is averaging 14.8 points, followed on the scoring list by Katrina Christian (7.3 ppg.) and Lilly Garner (7.1 ppg.). As a team, the Hillcats shoot .404 from the field and .768 from the line.
RSU HEAD COACH KYLE BENT:Â In his first year leading the Hillcats, Bent coached the team to a 14-14 overall record and the No. 4 seed in the Heartland Conference tournament in 2018-19. Bent spent the previous four seasons as the head coach at Martin Methodist, recording 95 wins and four berths in the NAIA tournament.
SCOUTING THE RIVERHAWKS:Â NSU has three players averaging over 10 points per game, led by Zaria Collins, who tallies 18.0 points and 6.1 boards per night. Cenia Hayes averages 16.0 points and a team-high 6.6 rebounds and 2.0 steals, while Shae Sanchez is next with 11.9 points and a team-leading 3.3 assists. NSU allows 68.5 points per game and is shooting .391 overall and .265 from three-point range.
NSU HEAD COACH FALA BULLOCK:Â An NSU alumna, Bullock took over as the head coach of the RiverHawks in 2017 after serving as the head coach at Armstrong State, where she won 60 games. Bullock began her coaching career as an assistant at Northeastern State, and spent two seasons as the head coach of Central Georgia. As the leader of the RiverHawks, Bullock has won 24 games in four seasons.
TABULATING TAKEAWAYS:Â Lincoln, which has 58 steals on the year, ranks 73rd nationally in total steals, and its 8.1 steals per game are the fifth-most in the MIAA. Niyah Jackson has 13 of those takeaways, ranking her 12th in the league.
NEW KID ON THE BLOCK:Â Newcomer Ashtin Ingram has 14 blocks through nine games, the third-most in the MIAA and the 20th-most in NCAA Division II. Ingram, who has three starts and averages 15.4 minutes per night, is ranked 43rd nationally with 1.6 rejections per game.
UNDE-NIYAH-BLE:Â Niyah Jackson eclipsed the 20-point twice this season, and her 15.2 ppg. average ranks 10th in the MIAA. Her 2.9 assists per game rank 11th in the league, and her .466 field goal percentage is the fourth-best in the conference. She has yet to score less than 10 points in a game.
