The Blue Tigers fell to Southern Arkansas, 70-57, in the season opener last Friday (Nov. 8) before dropping a 68-37 decision to the host school, Arkansas-Monticello, on Saturday (Nov. 9). This will be a Lincoln athletics double-header, as the LU football team hosts Missouri Western in its season finale at 12:00 p.m. CST this Saturday. - Lincoln has won five of its last six home non-conference games.

- On Saturday, Lincoln begins a stretch where six of its next nine games will be played at Jason Gym.

PREVIEWING THE BLUE TIGERS:
Kaloni Pryear had a big opening weekend, averaging a team-best 17.0 points on .536 shooting. Kiara Shoulders also had a strong season debut, averaging 10.5 points and 7.5 rebounds while tallying three steals. Anna Munoz Vidueira averaged 4.5 points while Vivian Chigbu led LU with 12.5 rebounds per game.

HEAD COACH AYANA McWILLIAMS:  A five-year veteran of the Division I ranks, McWilliams is in her fourth year as the head coach at Lincoln. Last season, McWilliams led the Blue Tigers to a 7-0 start, the best in program history. McWilliams previously worked as an assistant at South Carolina Upstate, a Division I program, and also was an assistant at Elizabeth City.

LAST TIME OUT
Southern Arkansas 70, Lincoln 57

Lincoln held the Lady Muleriders to .266 shooting from the field and .250 from three-point range, but could not overcome 36 turnovers as LU fell in its 2019-20 opener, 70-57. SAU scored 33 points off its takeaways and finished with a slight 52-50 edge in rebounding. Lincoln was led by Kaloni Pryear with 18 points and Kiara Shoulders with 17.

Arkansas-Monticello 68, Lincoln 37

Kaloni Pryear scored 16 points and Vivian Chigbu pulled down 11 rebounds, but Lincoln fell in its second game of 2019-20 to Arkansas Monticello by a final score of 68-17. The Cotton Blossoms shot .433 from the floor and forced LU into 22 turnovers while committing just 14. Lincoln out-rebounded UAM, 39-37.

SCOUTING THE EUTECTICS:  The Saint Louis College of Pharmacy enters the week with a 2-2 record, notching wins against Crowley's Ridge and Cottey while falling to Fontbonne and Graceland. Grace Beyer leads the team with an impressive 24.3 scoring average while Elizabeth Allanach (11.3) and Michon Forrest (10.3) also averaged double figures. Forrest also averages a team-high 6.3 rebounds.

STLCOP HEAD COACH STEPHEN ALLEN:
In his third season with the Eutectics, Allen has a 10-24 record, including a 2-2 mark this season. St. Louis College of Pharmacy improved its win total by three last year and has broken 13 team records during Allen's tenure with the program.

ON THE REBOUND:
Thanks in big part to huge performances on the glass by Vivian Chigbu and Kiara Shoulders during the opening weekend, the Blue Tigers have established themselves as one of the best rebounding teams in the MIAA. Lincoln averaged 44.5 rebounds in its first two games, posting the highest average in the league in the process. LU, which is 35th in NCAA DII in total rebounding, is also leading the MIAA and 46th nationally in offensive rebounds (15.0).

GOOD ON THE GLASS:
Vivian Chigbu reached double figures in rebounding in each of the first two games and currently leads the team, ranks third in the MIAA and rates 16th in the country in rebounds per game with 12.5. Chigbu's total of 25 rebounds is the 35th-most in Division II, and her nine offensive boards rank 36th.

SHOULDERING THE DEFENSE:
In addition to Vivian Chigbu, Lincoln has another player who is off to a hot start as rebounder in Kiara Shoulders, who averaged 7.5 boards during the first two games of the season. Shoulders, who also tallied 21 points to rank second on the team in scoring, is currently 10th in the MIAA in both rebounds per game and total boards. Shoulders also is tied for the team lead with three steals.

STAYING HOME:
There are 13 home games on Lincoln's 2019-20 schedule, with all four of LU's games in the month of December being played in Jason Gym. Exactly half of Lincoln's eight games in January will also be home contests, and the Blue Tigers will host a pair of games during the first month of the season. February will be an altogether different story, however, as only three of LU's nine games will be in Jason Gym.

PRYEAR SUCCESS:
Kaloni Pryear, who started 14 games and made 19 total appearances a year ago, is Lincoln's early scoring leader in 2019-20. Pryear opened the year with 18 points against Southern Arkansas. In the second contest, Pryear scored 16 points, and her 17.0 average has her ranked 10th in the MIAA.

DEFENDERS:
It's still early, but Lincoln boasts one of the MIAA's top shooting defenses thanks to a pair of fantastic performances during the opening weekend. Lincoln has allowed teams to shoot just .338 from the floor for the 50th-best mark in NCAA Division II and the second-best in the league. LU is also fifth in the league in three-point defense (.275).

FAITH AND BASKETBALL:
Faith Brintle makes her return to the team this year after missing 2018-19 with a preseason injury. Brintle, a redshirt sophomore, set a new single-season record for free throw accuracy (.917) during her freshman year in 2017-18 while averaging 10.4 points and 2.4 assists.

A GLOBAL TEAM:  The 2019-20 Blue Tigers represent six countries, including Australia (Natasha Elliott and coach Graham McFall); Spain (Anna Munoz Vidueira); Nigeria (Vivian Chigbu); Uruguay (Natasha Dolinsky); Bosnia & Herzegovina (Vedrana Radosavljevic); and, of course, the United States of America.

GIVE AND TAKE:  The first weekend was a tough one for Lincoln, which committed a total of 62 turnovers, the most by an MIAA program during the first weekend of the season. On the other side of the ball, however, Lincoln forced 36 turnovers, the fifth-most by a league team.

PLAYING THE PERCENTAGES:
Two of the league's top-15 shooters wear the navy blue and white of Lincoln University. Kaloni Pryear (.536) is 11th in the league in field goal percentage and sixth in field goals made (15). Kiara Shoulders, meanwhile, is 13th in field goal percentage (.526).
