JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln bowling team resumes its season this weekend when the Blue Tigers travel to Jonesboro, Ark. to compete in the Mid-Winter Invitational from Friday through Sunday (Jan. 11-13). Hosted by Arkansas State, the tournament will feature 21 programs including Central Missouri, Drury, Maryville and McKendree from the MIAA.

The Blue Tigers have been off since Nov. 17-18 when LU finished 13th at the Striking Knights Classic. Dominique Lee posted the best tournament finish ever by a Blue Tiger by taking 20th out of 120 after knocking down 1,170 pins for an average of 195.0, the best by a Lincoln bowler in the four-year history of the program. Nina Theroff averaged 182.0 pins with a high score of 208 to place 35th overall. DeAsia Britton averaged 155.5 pins for the tourney and Chyann Taylor was close behind with 155.3 pins. Cally Vandegriffe rounded out the Blue Tigers with an average of 129.7.

LU has competed in three tournaments thus far, including the Bearcat Hammer Open (Oct. 26-28), where Theroff led the team with 161.1 pins per contest with a single-game high of 189, good for 55th overall. Taylor placed two spots behind Theroff at 57th with an average of 159.8 and a total pin count of 799 while Lee had a single-game high of 200 and knocked down 785 pins to finish in 59th for the tournament.

Lincoln also competed in the Warhawk Invitational (Nov. 9-11), with Lee taking 61st out of 129 bowlers to lead Lincoln with 847 pins. Britton had LU's next-best performance, averaging 161.4 pins with a single game-high of 176, while Taylor bowled a 176 twice and averaged 150.8 pins for the tournament. Theroff averaged 146.6 pins with a high of 178 and Vandegriffe closed out Lincoln with an average of 133 pins, including bowling a career-high score of 167.

LU opened the season at the Mid-States Invitational (Oct. 20-21), where Lee placed 32nd out of 238 bowlers with an average of 172.8 pins. Theroff (158.2 pins) finished 66th and Taylor (158.2 pins) finished 66th while Britton (144.2) and Vandegriffe (106.0) also represented Lincoln.

After the Mid-Winter Invitational, Lincoln will be off until Jan. 25-27 when the Blue Tigers compete in the Columbia 300 Saints Invitational in Chesterfield, Mo.
