THE KICKOFF:Â The inaugural season of women's soccer at Lincoln University of Missouri continues this week with a pair of GLVC contests. On Friday (Sept. 20), the Blue Tigers host Drury for a 5:00 p.m. CDT contest. Due to a large number of events at Jefferson City High School on Friday, this match will be played on the soccer field at Capital City High School, located at 1650 Cavalier Drive in Jefferson City. On Sunday (Sept. 22), Lincoln travels to Bolivar, Mo. to play Southwest Baptist at 12:00 p.m. CDT. Lincoln went 4-0 in non-conference play, including 2-0 at home, but dropped its GLVC opener at Missouri S&T, 2-1, after a last-minute goal by the Miners.

- Lincoln is 2-0 at home and has out-scored opponents, 3-1.

- Drury is 3-0-2 overall and 1-0 in GLVC play after a 2-1 win at Missouri-St. Louis on Sunday (Sept. 15).

- SBU is 0-3-1 overall and 0-1 in GLVC play after falling to Maryville, 5-0, at home on Sunday. All three losses have come in Bolivar.

PREVIEWING THE BLUE TIGERS:Â Carolina Dos Santos scored the first goal in the history of the LU women's soccer program in Lincoln's 1-0 win over Minnesota-Crookston while
Ivanna Faria has four goals, including three game-winners.
Michelle Granja is 2-0 in the net with a pair of shutouts and
Kanon Dehama is 2-1 with 16 saves. The other goal this year was scored by
Angela Reynolds while
Francesca Tucci-Haack has an assist.

HEAD COACH LEAH STRINGER:Â With a pair of wins in LU's first-ever matches,
Leah Stringer is off to a strong start as the coach of the Blue Tigers on a high note. No stranger to NCAA Division II or the state of Missouri, Stringer is in her first year coaching LU after spending the previous three seasons as an assistant at Missouri Western. She helped lead the Griffons to the No. 13 national ranking in 2021 and helped the team post a .708 win percentage that season.

A pair of second half goals, including one in the 86th minute of the contest, led the Blue Tigers to a 2-1 victory over William Woods in their first-ever home match on Sept. 11.

Ivanna Faria scored off of a pass from
Francesca Tucci-Haack in the 37th minutes to help Lincoln defeat Harris Stowe, 1-0, in a battle of Missouri's two HBCUs on Sept. 13.
Michelle Granja earned her second shutout of the season and made a pair of saves while
Grace Larson had four shots, two of which were on goal.

Missouri S&T 2, Lincoln 1
Angela Reynolds scored the equalizer with just under nine minutes remaining, but Missouri S&T broke the tie with 10 seconds left to hand Lincoln its first loss, 2-1, on Sunday (Sept. 15). The match was the first conference contest in the history of the LU women's soccer program.

SCOUTING THE PANTHERS:Â Ines Villanueva Casal, Kourtney Tucker, Holland Hawkins and Leah McDonald each have two goals apiece and Tara Simon has Drury's other goal while Audrey Camargo and Zoe Tolksdorf each have an assist. Villanueva Casal and Tucker also have assists and Villanueva Casal leads the Panthers with 15 overall shots and seven shots on goal. Keeper Katy Fitzler has played all 450 minutes and has 14 saves as well as two shutouts.

SCOUTING THE BEARCATS:Â Southwest Baptist has scored three goals this season while allowing 11, though keeper Cece Alexander has made 17 saves in her three starts. The goals scorers are Kendal Weiskopf, Annabelle Shuler and Tamerra Gantt. Julia Johnson and Sam Short each have an assist while Abby Youngblood has two shots.

GOOOOAAAALLL!:Â Through five matches this season,
Ivanna Faria has scored four goals to lead the team and rank second in the GLVC. Faria is also one of the nation's scoring leaders, ranking 10th nationally in total goals, second in game-winning goals and 32nd in goals per game. Faria's eight total points rate third in the league and 23rd nationally.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK:Â It did not take long for the Blue Tigers to have their first GLVC Player of the Week honoree. After just two matches in the history of the program, Lincoln goalkeeper
Kanon Dehama was named as the first Defensive Player of the Week for 2024. Dehama helped LU shut out Minnesota-Crookston for a 1-0 victory in the first match in school history and she made five saves while playing 90 minutes in the net.

WINNING TIME:Â Nine minutes and 36 seconds. That is the total amount of time the Lincoln has trailed in its home games. It is also the amount of time the Blue Tigers had trailed prior to Sunday's game against Missouri S&T. In contrast, Lincoln has played 161 minutes and 57 seconds with the lead in 2024.

NOT TODAY:Â Michelle Granja has yet to allow a goal as she has two shutouts in two starts. Granja, who has made seven saves, is tied for the lead in the GLVC and 21st in Division II in shutouts.
