OSKALOOSA, Iowa - Henry Mwanza won the individual medalist honors and Remon Rabie was the runner-up as the Lincoln men's golf team tied for first place through 36 rounds at the Statesmen Invitational, hosted by William Penn University at Edmunson Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 9-10). The Blue Tigers tied with Hawkeye Community College and went to a playoff where HCC finished with the advantage to earn the team championship.

Mwanza shot a 68 on Monday and fired a 74 on Tuesday to finish the two-round tournament with a two-over score of 142. Rabie took second place with his total of 144 after shooting a 73 during the first round and a 71 during the second.

Blake Meredith also finished in the top-10, taking ninth with a sum of 148. Meredith opened the Statesmen Invitational with a 71 before shooting a 77 on Tuesday. Jett Maasen ended his Blue Tiger debut with an 18th-place finish, as he put together totals of 75 and 79 for a final score of 154. Nico Tovar Cardona also tied for 18th with a 154 after carding scores of 73 and 81.

As a team, Lincoln shot a 285 on the first day of the tourney and a 301 on the second for a final score of 586.

The Blue Tigers will next play in the Folds of Honor Challenge, hosted by Grand Valley State University at The Meadows Golf Club in Allendale, Mich. from Sunday through Tuesday (Sept. 15-17).
