Softball Signs Three Transfer Players for 2022

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Head Coach Christine Core announced on Tuesday (July 13) that three transfer players have signed letters of intent to continue their careers with the Lincoln softball team, beginning with the 2022 season.

Becca Barnett (Moline, Ill./Iowa Western Community College), Jordan Galliher (Hutchinson, Kan./Hutchinson Community College) and Chloe Olson (Ankeny, Iowa/Indian Hills Community College) will each begin their Lincoln careers this upcoming school year. Barnett will enter as a junior, Olson will be a sophomore and Galliher will be a redshirt freshman.

"I am thrilled to add the leadership and playing experience that Becca, Jordan and Chloe will bring to our program," Core said. "Each of these athletes knows exactly what it means to compete at a high level, and they will do a great job moving our program forward in all facets."

A utility player, Barnett tied for the team lead in batting average during her only season at Iowa Western after hitting .420 in 2020. She led the team in doubles (10) and RBI (28), and finished second in both hits (34) and runs scored (25). A redshirt player at Alcorn State in 2021, Barnett additionally appeared in 31 games as a freshman at Drake University. Before beginning her collegiate career, Barnett played at Alleman Catholic High School and Moline Senior High School, earning three first team all-conference honors and first team all-state recognition.

Galliher was Hutchinson's top pitcher the past two seasons, earning multiple Jayhawk Conference Pitcher of the Week awards as well as NJCAA National Pitcher of the Week recognition. An all-Jawhawk Conference second team performer, Galliher struck out 125 batters over the past two years, posting a 13-5 record with one save in 2021. Galliher also enjoyed a stellar career at Trinity Catholic High School, setting program career records for strikeouts (540), wins (46), shutouts (11) and, on offense, runs batted in (100). She is also Trinity Catholic's single season leader in strikeouts (150).

Olson, a first baseman and outfielder, holds Indian Hills' career homerun record with 39 over the past two years. That includes 15 homers in a 2021 campaign that ended with Olson receiving first team all-region accolades after batting .393 with 64 RBI. During her freshman campaign in 2019, Olson smashed 20 homeruns and hit .420 with 53 RBI en route to earning first team all-region and third-team All-American recognition. A two-time all-conference honoree in high school, Olson earned all-academic honors following each of her two seasons at Indian Hills.
