JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln women's golf team closes the fall portion of its 2021-22 schedule next week when the Blue Tigers head to Warrensburg, Mo. for the Midwest Classic. Hosted by the University of Central Missouri at Mules National Golf Club, the Midwest Classic will be held on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 18-19).
Lincoln is coming off its highest finish of the season, as the Blue Tigers finished third at the WWU Fall Invitational last week (Oct. 11-12).Â
Saikati Gikonyo finished seventh overall after carding a two-round total of 164. Gikonyo opened with an 80 on Monday (Oct. 11) before carding an 84 on Tuesday. Finishing three strokes back of Gikonyo wasÂ
Maria Villamil, who tied for 11th after shooting a 167 for the tourney. Villamil scored an 83 on Monday and an 84 on Tuesday.
Nyah Singh and
Elliott Hull also finished among the top-20.
Gikonyo also led Lincoln at each of its first two tournaments, including placing 58th in the Panthers Invitational after shooting a 173. Singh also tied for 58th in that tournament, and Hull used an 82 in the second round to tie for 75th with a 178. Villamil rounded out LU with a 181.
In the season-opening NSU Classic, held in Broken Arrow, Okla., Gikonyo led Lincoln with a 164 after shooting an 80 in the opening round and an 84 in the second. Singh followed with a 176 while Hull rounded out the Blue Tigers with a 195.
Lincoln additionally played in the Grace Shin Invitationa in Edmond, Okla., where Villamil and Gikonyo tied for the team-lead. Villamil shot an 80 in the second round while Gikonyo carded a 79.
