JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln cross country team closes its 2019 regular season on Saturday (Oct. 12) when LU heads to Fayette, Mo. for the Gary Stoner Invitational, hosted by Central Methodist University at 10:30 a.m. CDT.
Lincoln opened its 2019 campaign in victorious fashion, winning the 5K Fontbonne Six Flags Meet with 26 points. Five Blue Tigers finished among the top-10, with
Melissa Tyme pacing Lincoln with a time of 21:25.59. Tyme ended the 5K race in third place, and
Kimone Campbell took fourth after clocking in at 21:40.21.
Danielle James rounded out the top-five by timing in at 21:57.62.
The Blue Tigers followed that performance with a fourth-place result at the 6K H.W. Wright Classic, with Tyme once again leading LU by finishing as the runner-up with a time of 25:01.7. That was not only Tyme's highest career placement, but also the best finish by a Blue Tiger since 2013. Campbell also finished in the top-10, timing in at 26:16.1 to finish in eighth place. James took 15th at 26:46.3, and
Jameaka Mannings checked in at 27:48.5 to take 21st in the scoring.
Most recently, Lincoln competed in the Columbia College Invitational, taking sixth overall with three runners in the top-30. Tyme once again was LU's top finisher, timing in at 19:57.96 to end the 5K race in 15th place. Campbell placed 22nd with a time of 20:27.28 and James came in 29th after clocking in at 20:47.54.
After wrapping up the regular season on Saturday, the Blue Tigers will next head to Joplin, Mo. for the 2019 MIAA Championship on Oct. 26.
