JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - A goal in the 88th minute lifted Missouri Southern to a 2-1 victory over the Lincoln women's soccer team in the season-opening match for both programs on Friday evening (Aug. 28).
Missouri Southern struck first, finding the back of the goal in the 18th minute, and led until the 43:00 mark of the contest. A penalty kick was awarded to
Leah Serritos at that point, and her kick went just past the outstretched arms of the keeper to knot the score at 1-1.
The Blue Tigers finished with four shots on goal while the Lions had eight.
Kanon Dehama made six saves while
Mia Greathouse had two shots on the net.
Dana Brooks had Lincoln's other shot on the evening.
Lincoln will return to Dwight T. Reed Stadium on Sunday (Aug. 30) to host Harris Stowe at 12:00 p.m. CDT.
