LIBERTY, Mo. - The Lincoln baseball team played a non-conference road game at William Jewell on Tuesday night (April 21), with the Blue Tigers falling to the Cardinals, 13-3.
All three of LU's came courtesy of the deep ball. In the top of the fourth,
Blythe Blakey blasted a home run over the center field wall to put Lincoln (6-34) on the scoreboard. In the fifth inning,
Zane Hunter II was hit by a pitch, then
Aidan Streight brought him home by hitting the ball out of the park. The Blue Tigers finished with seven total hits against William Jewell (10-32).
Streight had two hits on the evening while Blakey,
Andy Srebroski IV,
Easton Stuckenschneider,
Ryan Lepper and
Daren Walters-Ansell each had one.
Canon Feist led LU's rotation with two strikeouts.
Brody Kleffner,
Jacob Claborn and
Carter Otto recorded one strikeout apiece.
Jayden Little led the Blue Tiger defense with eight putouts while Hunter was next with five. Walters-Ansell recorded a team-high four assists.
Lincoln travels to St. Louis, Mo. this weekend for a four-game series against Missouri-St. Louis. LU and UMSL meet for a single game on Friday (April 24) at 2:00 p.m. CDT. On Saturday (April 25), the Blue Tigers and the Tritons will face each other in a 12:00 p.m. CDT double-header. The series will conclude on Sunday (April 26) with one more single contest at 12:00 p.m. CDT.
