Blue Tigers Plate 11 Runs Against the Bearcats

LEBANON, Ill. - The Lincoln baseball team scored five runs in both the first and fifth innings, but McKendree ended up winning the series finale between the two teams, 22-11, on Sunday (Aprul 19).

Andy Srebroski IV led the game off with a base hit and scored the first run of the contest when Easton Stuckenschneider singled through the left side of the defense. Blythe Blakey and Nolan Laughlin were each issued walks to load the bases, and Daren Walters-Ansell kept the inning going with a base hit to plate Stuckenschneider. Another walk, this time issued to Carson Erwin, brought in Blakey for a 3-0 lead for the Blue Tigers.

AJ Williams was hit with a pitch with the bags still full, so Laughlin returned home for LU's fourth run of the opening frame. That brought up Nate Lucas, who a drove the ball into left field to score Walters-Ansell. That gave Lincoln (6-33, 0-24 GLVC) a 5-0 advantage after the first inning, but McKendree (19-23, 11-13 GLVC) responded in a big way, scoring 10 runs on seven hits in the bottom of the first inning.

A bases-loaded walk for Williams in the top of the second brought in Stuckenschneider for Lincoln's sixth run, but the Blue Tigers were kept off the board afterwards until the fifth inning. A three-run homer by Jayden Little scored Srebroski and Lucas to give Lincoln nine runs on the afternoon. Later in the inning, Blakey homered, bringing in Stuckenschneider to give the Blue Tigers 11 runs.

Srebroski had three hits to lead the LU offense while Stuckenschneider, Blakey and Laughlin had two hits apiece. Lucas, Walters-Ansell, Little and Williams also had hits. On the mound, Carter Otto struck out two batters and Cam Hoelscher fanned one. Little recorded a team-high six putouts and Srebroski led the Blue Tigers with three assists.

Lincoln travels to Liberty, Mo. on Tuesday (April 21) to play William Jewell in a 5:00 p.m. CDT non-conference contest.
