JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln men's basketball team took control of the game with an 11-0 run in the first half and never looked back as the Blue Tigers beat Upper Iowa, 72-65, on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 7).
Tyler Chapman led the Blue Tigers with 22 points and also had four assists, two rebounds and a pair of steals. Two other LU players scored in double figures, including
Malcolm Davis, who finished the day with 19 points, five boards, four assists, a pair of steals and a block. Matthieu BIembongo, meanwhile, scored 10 points, collected six rebounds and blocked two shots.
Lincoln (10-13, 4-11 GLVC) took advantage of .424 shooting from the floor and forced 18 turnovers to win its second game in a row after an 84-68 victory against Lewis on Thursday (Feb. 5). The Blue Tigers held Upper Iowa (14-8, 9-6 GLVC) to just .309 shooting from the field and .190 from three-point range, with the Peacocks making just four treys on the afternoon. UIU held a 41-38 advantage in rebounding, but LU had a 34-18 advantage in points in the paint.
Amar Kadic added five points, six boards and a steal to the winning cause while
Max Ekono led LU with five assists while also tallying five points, seven rebounds, a steal and a block.
Robin Discamps chipped in two points.
Sterling Rivera finished with a team-high four steals and made a free throw to go with five rebounds and an assist.
D'Necco Rucker and
Rashad Williams each scored four points, with Rucker additionally supplying three boards, an assist, a steal and a block. Williams, meanwhile, notched a block, a steal and a rebound.
Lincoln will play for its third-consecutive win on Thursday (Feb. 12) when the Blue Tigers visit Quincy, Ill. to play Quincy at 7:30 p.m. CST.
