JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - A big second quarter helped Quincy hand the Lincoln women's basketball team a 64-47 loss on Sunday afternoon (Jan. 4).
Aaliyah Smith led LU with 13 points while
Taelyn Smith finished with 12 points, five rebounds and a steal.
Kennedy Jones had a pair of assists, two steals and three rebounds.
Lincoln (4-9, 2-4 GLVC) trailed 12-9 at the end of the first quarter, but opened the second period by hitting a three to tie the game. Quincy (5-7, 2-3 GLVC) answered with a 17-1 run, however, and never looked back en route to the win. Lincoln held a 37-33 advantage in rebounding and forced 15 turnovers, but was held to .268 shooting from the floor. The Blue Tigers made 22 free throws, however, and received 27 points from its bench.
Laini Joseph led Lincoln with six rebounds and chipped in four points while
Kaleah Toran had four points and four boards on the afternoon.
Kiara Cabrera made a free throw, dished an assist, pulled down three rebounds and notched two takeaways.
Bella Borgos also had two steals and finished the day with nine points and two boards.
Hallie Williams scored two points and secured four rebounds, and
Isis Sanders added two points, four boards and a steal.
Lincoln heads to Bolivar, Mo. on Thursday (Jan. 8) to play Southwest Baptist at 5:30 p.m. CST.
