Chapman Scores 21, but Lincoln Falls to Quincy


JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Quincy built a 13-point lead in the first half and held off a comeback attempt by the Lincoln men's basketball team for a 65-60 win over the Blue Tigers on Sunday (Jan. 4).

Tyler Chapman led all players with 21 points and grabbed six rebounds to go with two assists. D'Necco Rucker was next on the scoring list for LU with 11 points, three boards, two assists and a block. Matthieu Biembongo also finished in double figures, tallying 10 points, four rebounds, three blocks and two assists.

Lincoln (7-7, 1-5 GLVC) fought back to pull within 30-26 at halftime, and trailed by just one point midway through the second half. The Blue Tigers shot .462 overall and .438 from three-point range over the final 20 minutes, but Quincy (7-6, 2-3 GLVC) managed to shoot .440 from the floor during that same span. A late three by Chapman pulled the Blue Tigers to within 62-60, but the Hawks made three of four free throw attempts down the stretch to hang on for the win.

Max Ekono led the Blue Tigers with four assists, tied for the team-lead in both rebounds (six) and steals (two), had two blocks and tallied six points. Tyler Lucas also finished with six points while Malcolm Davis ended the afternoon with two points, a rebound, a steal and an assist. Rashad Williams notched two steals and secured a rebound. Robin Discamps, meanwhile, had four points, three boards and a steal.

Lincoln travels to Bolivar, Mo. on Thursday (Jan. 8) to play Southwest Baptist at 7:30 p.m. CST.
