Kaleah Toran scored 16 points, but the Lincoln women's basketball team dropped a 67-48 decision to Illinois-Springfield on Thursday evening (Jan. 29).
Toran also had three rebounds, an assist and a steal while
Isis Sanders finished with 11 points and
Hallie Williamson scored 10. Sanders dished an assist and collected three rebounds. Williamson, meanwhile, grabbed four boards and notched a steal.
Illinois-Springfield (8-11, 5-6 GLVC) opened up a 16-6 lead in the first quarter, but Lincoln (4-15, 2-10 GLVC) answered with 17 points in the second period to pull within 29-23 at halftime. With 3:26 remaining in the third,
Aaliyah Smith connected on a jumper to bring LU to within 36-33, but a 16-3 run helped UIS pull away for good.
Aaliyah Smith finished with a team-high eight rebounds and chipped in seven points to go with two steals.
Kiara Cabrera stole the ball four times, dished three assists and pulled down three rebounds.
Taelyn Smith rounded out the scoring with four points, five boards and an assist.
Bella Borgos came off the bench to collect two rebounds.
Kennedy Jones, meanwhile, ended the evening with three assists, two rebounds and a steal.
Lincoln travels to Indianapolis, Ind. on Saturday (Jan. 31) to play Indianapolis at 12:00 p.m. CST.
