JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln women's basketball team rallied from a 19-point second half deficit to pull within three in the final quarter, but McKendree held on for a 79-68 win on Saturday (Jan. 24)
Bella Borgos led the Blue Tigers with 17 points and also recorded a rebound and an assist.
Kiara Cabrera finished with 16 points, three boards, three steals and two assists.
Aaliyah Smith, meanwhile, had nine points, four rebounds and a pair of blocks.
McKendree (11-6, 8-3 GLVC) shot well from the field for most of the game, finishing with a .508 percentage overall, but the Blue Tigers did not allow the Bearcats to make a single three-point shot over the course of the contest. Lincoln (4-14, 2-9 GLVC) fired up its offense in the fourth quarter, as LU shot .643 from the floor to pull within three halfway through the period. The Blue Tigers forced the Bearcats into 16 turnovers, but McKendree finished with a 46-28 advantage in rebounds.
Isis Sanders led LU with six rebounds and scored nine points to go with an assist and a steal.
Hallie Williamson added eight points, a block and a rebound while
Kennedy Jones grabbed a rebound to go with two assists, a pair of steals and two points.
Taelyn Smith also scored two points and dished two assists while pulling down three rebounds.
Kaleah Toran rounded out LU with five points, four boards, two steals and an assist.
Lincoln travels to Springfield, Ill. on Thursday (Jan. 29) to play Illinois-Springfield at 5:30 p.m. CST.
