Hadri Lopez and
Adam Benrahou scored first half goals as the Lincoln men's soccer team opened its 2025 season with a 3-1 home win over Northeastern State on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 6).
The first goal of the season came in the 18th minute, as Lopez took a pass from
Matthew Baker and kicked it past the RiverHawk goalkeeper. Just over two-and-a-half minutes later, Benrahou scored off an assist by Lopez to make it a 2-0 contest, and Lincoln maintained the lead entering halftime.
Early in the second half, the Blue Tigers took a 3-0 lead on an unassisted goal by
Rajae Lawrence. Northeastern State (0-1-1) was more aggressive on offense in the second period, out-shooting the Blue Tigers, 11-6, and scoring at the 81:39 mark. Both teams ended the day with 14 shots.
Vincent Osei made 10 saves to help Lincoln open the season with a victory. Lopez, Kevin Maitland and
Junior Grizzelle each attempted three shots while Lawrence tried two.
Kanye Francis also had a shot on goal.
Lincoln plays its second and final non-conference match of the season on Friday (Sept. 12) when the Blue Tigers visit St. Louis, Mo. to take on Harris Stowe at 3:00 p.m. CDT.
