Blue Tigers Beat Drury, Improve Record to 5-0

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - A second half goal by Kevon Maitland broke a tie and helped the Lincoln men's soccer team win its fifth-straight game, as the Blue Tigers beat Drury, 4-2, on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 21). Maitland ended up with a hat trick as the Blue Tigers continued their undefeated start to the 2025 season.

The Blue Tigers controlled the ball offensively, finishing with 17 shot attempts compared to seven by the Panthers. Vincent Osei shut DU out in the first half and got the win in goal after making three saves.

Just under 12 minutes into the match, Nkouka Loubassou scored after passes by Christopher Hull and Matthew Baker to give Lincoln (5-0-0, 3-0-0 GLVC) the early 1-0 lead. The Blue Tigers entered halftime with a two goal advantage over Drury (0-2-3, 0-2-1 GLVC) thanks to a penalty kick goal by Maitland in the 43rd minute.

The Panthers proved to be resilient, cutting the LU lead in half on a penalty kick goal of its own in the 49th minute before tying the game at the 59:32 mark. Just under 10 minutes later, however, Maitland took a pass from Hadri Lopez and sent the ball past the Drury keeper for what proved to be the game-winner in the 69th minute. Maitland later scored on another penalty kick in the 88th minute for the 4-2 final.

Maitland had four shots on goal and five overall while Loubassou and Adam Benrahou each finished the day with two total shots and one on the net. Santiago Brisco also had a shot on goal while Keynath Walters had two shot attempts. Lopez, Rajae Lawrence, Jaheem Johnson, Joseph Lozano and Jorge Arevalo finished with one shot attempt apiece.

Lincoln will be back on its home turf next Sunday (Sept. 28) to host Missouri-St. Louis at Dwight T. Reed Stadium at 2:30 p.m. CDT.
